Vicz Neutral Newbie November 17, 2007 Share November 17, 2007 200 odd? did u mean 20K odd? if me, unless u like to exchange ur $ with power and a little more fun and grunt. if not, my suggestion is take this 20k to the bank. Btw, i'd suggest u try Golf GT TSi first. perhaps u may want to have the best of both world = get the fun, the grunt and the power (with 5 ponies less) together with less tax + ur 20k to the bank. Unless u just want that car by the heart and not brain, then take whatever u love... my principle is still: if u can't decide with ur brain, decide with ur heart. Hwa hee jio hor, afterall life is very much about happiness
Xstudio Neutral Newbie November 17, 2007 Author Share November 17, 2007 Why suggest about GOLF GTI? How much is that compare to my Mini? And I certainly feels that Cooper S is what i decided.... but any takers for my current ride?
Elfenstar 3rd Gear November 17, 2007 Share November 17, 2007 he's not talking abt the GTi. hes talking abt the GT. The SC and TC 1.4l golf.

Elfenstar 3rd Gear November 17, 2007 Share November 17, 2007 I dunno anything abt it other than what i've seen in ads but i know which car he was talking abt I think there was a thread on it somewhere in the forums...
Chemz Clutched November 17, 2007 Share November 17, 2007 the golf gt is roughly the same size as the gti. powered by a 1.4l TC and SC engine that puts out 170bhp. so you save on roadtax w/o losing out on power output. price wise is quite close to the cooper. Xstudio Neutral Newbie November 17, 2007 Author Share November 17, 2007 So basically it is the same I suppose? More or less the same specification that they are having of its own. Cost wise is also pretty close I guess?
Xstudio Neutral Newbie November 17, 2007 Author Share November 17, 2007 Anyway how much do you know bout trading in car for new ride? And if you do please let me know how much will I get or rather how much do I have to top up for new ride? I mean as in the calculation for these procedures.... thanks
Vicz Neutral Newbie November 18, 2007 Share November 18, 2007 oh ok... so what about this ride? care to share more? fren: http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/11213/...en-golf-gt.html For info, TSi is an award winning engine having Turbo + Superchager engine with S taking care of the low rev range and T takes care of the high rev range. with 1.4 at 170bhp going at approx S$105k. I definitely think that its a great rival to the mini S. Golf is a hot hatch that all hatches benchmark. mini is more of a life style with fun though. Tsystem Neutral Newbie November 18, 2007 Share November 18, 2007 (edited) Cooper S definitely, if budget allows. I'm not sure bout the others here but in the looks department, you can't really compare a mini with a golf. Mini wins most definitely - this is in my opinion The Golf with 4 doors would be more practical. Practicality aside, the mini for sure! Can't say much about your Honda.. got no idea what's the market rate for a used one. Edited November 18, 2007 by Tsystem
Vratenza Supersonic November 18, 2007 Share November 18, 2007 "Anyway how much do you know bout trading in car for new ride? I mean as in the calculation for these procedures.... thanks " Bro, without any information like the model, manufacture year, COE, PARF.....nobody can tell you how much your honda is gonna fetch .... consider your car loan redeem value too.... Nowadays, everyone wants to change car for a new better model...the only difference between those who changed and those who still thinking of changing is if they can stomach the lousy price they get for their used car......if you still owe your bank ++ for your current car...then i can say you can forget about it... Xstudio Neutral Newbie November 18, 2007 Author Share November 18, 2007 all right understood... thank you. in that case all right... mini mini... so funny!
Acuravtec Neutral Newbie January 4, 2008 Share January 4, 2008 I think copper S is a symbol of lifestyle. Not comparable to Golf GT at all.
Neoxenon Neutral Newbie January 14, 2008 Share January 14, 2008 The Mini Cooper S is faster than the Golf GT, so if you're only talking about speed, then the Cooper's true rival is the older brother Golf GTi. Lifestyle wise, the MINI certainly turns more heads with its funky looks and fun interior. However, practicality-wise the Golf is miles ahead with its 5-door layout, larger interiors and sensible design. You also get two very important technical features as described by the bros here - the award-winning TSi engine AND the DSG transmission. As a city-car, the Golf is hard to beat with the practical aspects in the design. It is also easy to drive with the DSG gearbox doing all the work for you without a clutch, and there is no power loss like a auto gearbox. And talking about power, the TSi engines have loads of it. You can choose the more frugal 1.4l Golf GT that combines innovative twin-charging for power plus some fuel economy, or the more powerful 2.0l turbo-charged Golf GTi that delivers more power but higher fuel consumption. What about the MINI? Hmmm... if you go for the Cooper S, you'd get loads of performance like the Golf GT/GTi. Speed-wise both the VW and MINI are neck-to-neck, and both are known to handle well. They are of the same size as well. Where they differ is that the Golf appeals to the mind with logical design, but the MINI makes you smile with the funky design. Much less practical than the Golf to be sure, but more fun to be seen with. So there you have it... 2 different schools of thoughts, yet the same powerful and great driving experience. You won't suffer from poor performance no matter which one you choose. But where you need to make the decision, is between a logical drive and a fun drive. Neither is a better or worse choice - so just choose according to the kind of person you are!
inlinesix Hypersonic January 14, 2008 Share January 14, 2008 analysis. I also wif Mini Cooper S. Haven't test drive it yet. ↡ Advertisement
