Chemz Clutched November 21, 2007 Share November 21, 2007 yep its like Creative vs Apple Creative packs so much more punch and looks pretty good... but people just adore the ipod. actually i think apple pdts all along look and feel better than creative's. creative is value for money, but god forbid, nobody wants to be caught seen using one. ↡ Advertisement

Friendstar Supercharged November 21, 2007 Share November 21, 2007 funny. why do u care about the noise when heard from outside the car? And honestly, if u'r the engineers at merc or bmw, will u care about it? i'll focus more on what my customers experience inside the car. since they'r the one buying it. Dclk Neutral Newbie November 21, 2007 Share November 21, 2007 hanor hanor. To be fair, lexus are good if u want to listen to music in the car bcos the sound proving is good. for most cars, once the engine roars, no matter how solid is yr stereo hifi, u cant hear yr music properly...... You are spot on, those who yearn for great stereo will find a good match. As for Friendstar's comment ...... "...why do u care about the noise when heard from outside the car? ..." , I agree with you it does not really matter. The reason I mentioned that in my previous post was in response to an earlier thread stating the Lexus' sound-proofing and exhaust contribute to the quiet internal cabin, not the engine. inlinesix Hypersonic November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 I think can smoke EVOlah up 2 100km/h. 530D got 500NM of torque from 1,750RPM. 0-100km/h in 6.8 sec. Even Sg allows, rich ppl still won't buy 1. It is d diesel stigma.

Panda Neutral Newbie November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 Reading this thread in amusement especially from some exceptional individuals who "knows a lot about cars" (specifications). I'll summarize. ANY IDIOT, and let me place double emphasis on "ANY IDIOT", can read specifications off a brochure, but how many can appreciate the art of engineering? Magfocus 5th Gear November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 you're right, and not many can.
inlinesix Hypersonic November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 (edited) L-finesse captured tis grp of customer who can't apprepriate d finer art of engineering. D best ka they produced 2 date is IS200, which carries some of finer point of BWM E36. FUN Edited November 22, 2007 by Davidtch
Crv007 Neutral Newbie November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 (edited) Because of our unique environment, many of the luxury continental makes that most Singaporeans will purchase have the lowest engine specs to save on road tax but still provide the brand cachet. But then again, in our densely populated country, there is not much need for a high cc engine unless one likes to rush from one traffic light to another. I prefer high CC engine not because of rushing traffic, but more on the power and the drving experience I can get. drive a below 2000cc and above 2000cc you can feel the enjoyment different. hmmm....3000cc above even more refinement if you can afford why not? example, I go gym and maintain IPPT Gold not becasue I work labour job, or I can go around picking a fight more like when I take a long walk, or need to run sometimes I can enjoy my own body fitness and will not pant or feel dizzy or unhealthy when my body need to work extra.. just my thought on if can afford why not got for a better engine spec rather than lower end spec merc or bmw because of badge? well different people different opinion that make the world interesting Edited November 22, 2007 by Crv007
Edison Neutral Newbie November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 WHat the hell is finer art of engineering?? A branded shell that is hollow inside? Or the ability to let others perceive a status which one do not have? that is indeed some extremely fine art! HA HA
Ahbengdriver 6th Gear November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 I also dunno what is fine engineering. To layman like me, if I sit inside and drive the car, like it, fine to well made and fun to drive, got kick....that is a piece of good engineered product. Natnut 3rd Gear November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 Agreed. All this vague talk about "art of engineering" and "heritage". Quite simply , for a "luxury car", it should satisfy these criteria : is the engine and transmission smooth. Does it have low end torque for city driving as well as a good mid-range torque for easy overtaking. Is the steering feedback accurate and does it allow you to position the car precisely? Is there a good mix between ride comfort and handling? Is the interior comfortable and ergonomic? Safety features such as number of air-bags and as crash test ratings as well are important. What about convenience features like cup-holders,boot volume, soundproofing and quality of the sound system? ALL the above are concrete and easily judged variables NO need to hide behind mumbo jumbo like "art of engineering" or "heritage".
Porker Turbocharged November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 BMW = Sheer Driving Pleasure (Sheer Wasting Pleasure as quoted by my friend from the BMW forum becos its so expensive) Lexus = Relentless Pursuit of Perfection (Still pursuing after so many years and will continue to pursue) Mercedes = Very comfortable bricks Enuff said
Carlover76 Neutral Newbie November 22, 2007 Share November 22, 2007 "Lexus = Relentless Pursuit of Perfection (Still pursuing after so many years and will continue to pursue)" Well Said......It also means only Lexus have the perfection while their other brands like Toyota or Daihatsu, there are no perfection at all.
