understand luxury model going at 177k after all the discount. super luxury +14k

 

(main difference of this coming 2008 model comes with selectable suspension like those found on ls460 plus some safety managment program).

 

but seem rather steep at 177k ....

IMHO, lexus gs is a beautiful car. I'd think it's nicer than e-class or 5 series.

It has right combination of sporty and towkay looks and fantastic engine.

It is also cheaper than 5 series or e-class but packs more punchy engine.

Just that lexus badge perceived to be lower in status than merc/bmw.

If that crap Merc E200 can be priced at $178k. I don't see why the MUCH higher spec GS300 cannot be priced at $177k.

 

For people who compare price-to-price, you will see that the GS300 is a much, much more worthwhile buy. Badge? E200? Oh please..

cause in sg traffic, it's hard to realize full potential of high cc engine.

Badge, status and prestige is more impt.

I'd think that's mentality of most local car buyers.

 

But honestly speaking, gs300 is much better car for the price.

i dun think u shld be making such statements at all, esp. criticizing someone's car(owners of the e class). well, i guess its dependable on the buyer's perception of the brand.

 

generally merc is regarded as a well-established and stable brand. dats why more towkays are getting them...

 

lexus is a nice car, i dun deny that fact.

hmm...the general agruments between a Lexus & a German marque has always been rather much similar. To sum them up, the general overall feel (price vs price) is that a Lexus is a better ride. It loses out only badge to badge. I can offer much better critism but it still sums up the same.

 

Note, I'm agruing on the sum of all points in comparing the cars & not in specific areas.

also the trade in value for a Merc is higher than that of a Lexus.. so thats always a consideration especially when the retail prices are comparable

I believe $191k is the published price. After the usual discount, the actual price should be lower.
