You should be able to find more information in the Road trips folder, Kuantan is a favourite destination. Some names for your reference:

a. Tong Juan Seafood at Cukai (stuffed crab)

b. Hai Peng Kopi at Cukai (coffee and kaya/butter bread)

c. Pak Su near Swiss Garden (stuffed crab)

d. Hai Soon Fishball at Mersing

Hi,

I drove there last Aug and stayed at Swiss garden resort...think should be the same place u intending to go.

Yes, Nov monsoon period better take care on coastal road.

I took NSH exit yong peng, to segamat then straight thru to Kuantan.

Not a bad drive either, but lots of pot holes and reckless trucks.

Its challenging to take the 5.5hrs drive, with the many exciting over-taking episodes.

Better know your ride's limit before attempting over-taking on those stretch of roads.

I have seen many near-misses on my way there.

Back to Swiss garden.

The rooms are not too bad, only sea-facing or carpark facing rooms.

Breakfast buffet sucks.

For dinner u better drive out of the resort, not too far, on the way towards Kuantan town, on the left side of the road there is this Chinese Seafood restaurant. Pretty good and cheap for Singaporeans.

SPA massage at the resort also not too bad la. I got 1 free massage voucher when I stayed there.

The beach is pretty good! wave very strong... I lost my shades when I stupidly dive into the on-coming waves!

Here's a thread where there are pics of Swiss garden and that restaurant I mention.

Aiyo, relative to the distance between Singapore and Kuantan, Cukai is very near. I never fail to pop by Cukai whenever I visit Kuantan. I think it is less than 1 hour from Kuantan and about 30 min from Cherating. Go Kuantan must drop by Cherating, right?

c. Pak Su near Swiss Garden (stuffed crab) (lots of referene ... but persoanlly neber try b4)

No big deal, actually. I am still hunting for good seafood restaurants near Kuantan, just need to find a joint that can dish up Jumbo's or Seafood Paradise's standard with local prices. Btw, are the restaurants in Swiss Garden up to scratch?

d. Hai Soon Fishball at Mersing ('west knife' fish?)

I think so, we tried all their noodle dishes. ie. fishball soup, fried noodle, hokkien mee, etc. Yummy! We stopped over for a tea break but ended up having a full meal.

Can I know what is the name/location of the famous Bak Kut Tei shop in Mersing?
