Can new N95 8Gb be loaded with 3rd party maps & navigation?

I'm new to this GPS toys & just got my hands on the new N95.

I find the nokia maps & navigation too complex to use, requiring online connection & $$$...

Any other alternative?

If u wanna use the GPS totally FOC, you should not go for the N95. You shuold get the nokia 6110 navigator bro...

 

The 6110 navigator's GPS is very easy to use and best of all, its totally FOC. Don't have to pay for maps or GPS usage.

YEs, the maps of SG all the way to KL is included in the phone already. GPS usuage is FOC.

If you want to update map get the map loader. If you tokking abt AGPS, disable it.

 

alternative is install mapking for 3 days trial and keep on resetting the trial period.

But if you think nokia maps is complex, then MK need PhD to use

I tink N95 has free map, but not sure if got MY's map. But definately N95's GPS is not free.

that sounds pretty good... but not too use to a non PDA phone now.. but waiting for a iphone that comes with a gps...

6110 - Route66 - SG, JB, KL maps free initially - pay for updated maps

 

N95 - Nokia maps - all maps free - pay for voice navigation

I've used the 6110. Very impressive and easy to use. BTW, the 6110 screen is a little small..thats my main gripe about it.

Its good to have because imagine you wanna drive overseas for say 1 week.

Buy maps for R66 is damn expensive. Instead you can pay for 1 week of use for Nokia Maps and download the maps you need

Bro, paying for navigation is damn expensive. 70 Euros a year. That's like $140

Pay for 3 years $160. so each year cheaper

any N95 users wanna clarify?

 

6110 if they have an updated map, SG map only 10 Euros.

 

6110 is out of the box solution no nid pay anything unless u wanna update map

Too detail will end up like what someone mentioned with refrence to map king, need a PHD to read it!

 

Anyway I'm on using the Smart2Go map on my nokia N80. Serves it purpose very well, just like having a www.streetdirectory.com in my phone. Can help me plan my route also.

 

For the benefit of bros who use Nokia N & E series phones...maps can be downloaded here. No need GPS for it to work.

anyway i have

R66, Nokia Maps and MK on my 6110.

 

After trying out all, For ease of use, R66 is still my fav

2nd fav Nokia maps

Last is Mapking and only if i really need to use it.

I don't need voice navigation, just need normal navigation whereby the map reflect the actual position I'm traveling. Do I have to pay for this?

I can get the GPS to log on & can see the map but it does not change according to the actual movement.

By default, it will show you the actual location of where you are

 

Sorry, what I meant is turn by turn navigation instead of just voice.

 

ie if you want to the phone to show you on the map graphically how to go from Pt A to Pt B,

You need to pay for it.

 

You: Tell me where am I

N95: You are here (show u where u are on map)

U: show me how to get there.

N95: here's a step by step TEXT instructions

U: Show me graphically on screen

N95: Pls pay

 

The text instruction is only a text display and will not help you navigate while u drive.
