Kelpie 2nd Gear November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 (edited) 1. I'm of the opinion that we don't need cab with big CC in Singapore. 2L engine is more than enough for them to roam around from one corner to another Singapore. 2. Bigger engine let the cab uncles have the tendency to chiong and most of them can't keep to their lane especially at cornering with their bigger cars. Swq1018 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 I think even 2L is too big....a normal 1.6 to 1.8 is MORE MORE MORE than enough for goodness sake...our country is not like u need to take 5 hrs to travel from east to west...
Glyuen 3rd Gear November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 i think should increase their fuel prices to make them feel the pinch each time they chiong. i suggest K-class petrol versions. FC will be better than their diesel IF they drive gently. anyway, since can only ferry 4 pax at max, why do we need such big taxis for? add to the pollution. Sickscientist Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 IMO, I dun think this will solve the problem.. I think installing CCTVs focusing on the Cabby might help... Its a good suggestion anyway as their main point is to ferry passengers safely..
Mazda323 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 why not do like SAF style?? install a SWD in the vehicle or a speed cut like lets say 80km...
Guniang Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 i already suggested to LTA and they say they will forward the email to TP.... Pls send more emails to TP to limit the taxi speed
Sickscientist Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 The SWD cant do much... CCTV can detect recklessness...
Mandy83 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 Exactly. Even if you limit them to 60km/h, and can only accelerate 0-60km/h in 20 seconds, they will drive EVERYWHERE at 60km/h.
Mazda323 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 haha..this kind of letter ah..will take donkey years to reply... and well despite all the complains they receive...those cabbie company simply neva do any actions...and continue to let their so called "world class" drivers treat our roads like race track.. Mazda323 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 well at least SWD can limit their speed... CCTV sounds like a gd idea too..maybe can have both??
Sickscientist Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 Well, they say too much of a good thing is a bad thing... Put too much gadgets and not many will want to drive cabs anymore... And then come those FTs...
Mazda323 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 well..no choice...rather then now...all the drivers treating their cabs like evo or rex... esp those driving sonata and sliver arrow...
Sickscientist Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 Then I still think CCTVs are a good move... For a start maybe..
Mazda323 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 yup..or they can have like those undercover... wear plan CV cloths..den take their cab..and if cabbie drive recklessly...fine them on the spot.. something like SBS bus conductor like that!! Enzomatrix 2nd Gear November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 haha u guys finding all ways and means to kill taxi drivers, but to be fair, might as well install it on all cars in singapore as a requirement since we have a fair share of private car owners doing these kind of things as well :)
Mazda323 Neutral Newbie November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 haha..true also...but well..just tat private cars dun see so often as cabs... even if private cars do tat..mostly is those tiong chias and wannabes...
Guniang Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 usually the tiong chias drive slower on left lane....the rice cars drive fast.... and i overtook a lambourg and a ferrari a few times as they were being road hog...hahaha
Sickscientist Clutched November 4, 2007 Share November 4, 2007 Yup.. That'll do too.. But needs manpower... The CCTVs can be monitored by taxi operators or LTA.. ↡ Advertisement
