Hi Bros (& Sis),

Anyone know if it's legal (by LTA guidelines) to install decorative LED on car body?

Here in Thailand they put LEDs all over the car, also under the car and then the lights and flashing patterns are controlled by a control unit in the car. [flowerface]

Look like Audi already set a trend of LED daytime running lights, now many car makers also follow & also see some cars poorly installed after market LED lights on headlamp/ car body..ugly looking..

Factory fitted that comes with the car is legal as it's approved by LTA when the car is imported. Any aftermarket ones are all illegal.

That's the difference.

Unless your car model has an option for DRL, then you can get an OEM original one to install. That's "legal" as LTA don't record down if your car came with DRL or notl They purely follow the vehicle type specs sent for their approval. Noticed some Audi A4s without DRL (Attraction model)? They can buy original Audi DRL headlights to install, they can pass inspection because A4 specs do come with factory fitted DRLs in their records.
