How would they know if you sent to C&C to check?

Hi all, I am considering an 11-12 year old W221 s-class with about 150K mileage. I would appreciate input from everyone - 2 questions:

1) any thoughts on the quality and reliability of a s-class of the above vintage? I understand need to budget 5-10k to do instant repairs upon handover.

2) workshop is fine for me to use my own workshop to do PPI (they suggested VICOM / AA but I am aware those are not the best PPI around) but said no to C&C PPI. Is this a red flag?

If the car serviced at C&C and you sent to C&C to check.

If the mileage has been clocked they would know!

I didn’t mean this part. It is almost a guarantee than 90% of used cars sold by dealers are especially when the ownership count is 2 onwards.

@Jamesc I asked if they open to do C&C PPI they said no but own workshop can. Still worth the effort or give up this unit? Thanks

Depends how good is your WS?

If they can check and give their blessing and the price is right go for it.

If they say its a turkey don't buy!

Also how much can you trust your WS.

They say can buy and you buy and it turns out need a lot of work and need a lot of parts replaced

its a blessing to the workshop as more work means more money!

If its a superbly maintained car like jamesc used cars with all the wear and tear items already replaced when you buy

then WS have no business.

Got air suspension or not? That one kaput 10k also won't be enough.

S class by default  active air suspension. Outside workshop no need 10k, maybe 7k can do .

I think that's an option.

I rem someone here mentioned that replace whichever side that spoilt.

No need to change everything in 1 go.

Everytime when there’s an S Class being mentioned ,all things point to the Airmatic.

Get the usual P.P.I done but the airsuspension is one ,u wun Noe when it’s gonna Failed .

What I DO noe it’s not as x’pensive as what most ppl says.

+Try those Caroussel Stockist, dey are pretty competitive.

+There’s a workshop I noe ,who have the Kit to Repair the Air shocks.

+The Last option ,I noe ,there are ppl who swop it to Coil over.

The onli S I fancy is a model called the Water Buffalo .

Agree,  best bet of your money for a used merc, but  they wont sell COE s class, or COE Mercs of  any model.

Hi, try consider this, buy a PARF car and drive for a year, if the car is good, go renew COE yourself, it might be safer  that way, and you wont be stuck with a bad COE car  in case the car condition is bad. You will need to do your sum carefully, just my thoughts
