Asia WCQ: Singapore Given Tie After Palestine No-Show

 

Singapore are through to the second round of the FIFA World Cup 2010 Asian Zone qualifying tournament after being awarded a 3-0 win in the second leg first round match against Palestine at the National Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

 

Singapore had won the first leg 4-0 in Doha thanks to a brace from Shi Jiayi as well as goals from John Wilkinson and Noh Alam Shah.

 

The Lions were the one and only side present at the scheduled time of 5.00pm for the return leg and Chinese referee Sun Bao Jie going through the formalities of blowing the final whistle barely five seconds after the hosts had kicked off.

bad news for FAS

 

The Football Association of Singapore (FAS) is advising fans not to turn up at the stadium.

 

Those who have purchased tickets can obtain a full refund at the FAS office at Jalan Besar Stadium (Admin & Finance Dept) during office hours (9am-6pm) from Tuesday 30 October.
