Jasper Neutral Newbie May 23, 2003 Share May 23, 2003 What are the available gauges in the market? Vacuum Meter, Rich/Lean Meter, Volt Meter, Oil Pressure, Coolant Temperature? Is there any use? ↡ Advertisement
Civic_vti Neutral Newbie May 23, 2003 Share May 23, 2003 IMO, gauges are to beautify the car interior. Look abit more fierce like the car got turbo guages ... Guages like oil pressure, coolant temperature gives info that are not so useful to me. Guages that measures vacumm, compression, etc, may be useful info for fuel consumption, peak torque, etc. So far, the best gauge I have so far is the analog clock ... Saaber Neutral Newbie May 23, 2003 Share May 23, 2003 All guages have their uses provided you need the info...
Turbobrick Neutral Newbie May 23, 2003 Share May 23, 2003 They are plenty of gauges available depending on your need. Turbo cars use boost gauges to monitor the boost levels and also check if they adjust the boost so that they don't overboost and destroy the engine. Other stuff like voltmeter (checks batt health), ammeter (alternator health), engine oil temp (useful if going to track often), etc.
Jasper Neutral Newbie May 24, 2003 Author Share May 24, 2003 i thinking is there anyway to gauge the "proper time to change gear, how hard u step on the pedal".... in order to result a lower fuel consumption rate (FCR) vacuum meter, rich/lean meter? anymore? btw, the rich/lean meter will the meter moves around (like vacuum meter) when u depress acelerator? or the meter is like voltmeter stay there don't changes one. sorry i never seen a car with this meter so dunno. there is this 3in1 meter right? volt+oil pressure+coolant temp? but the car already got that temp gauge... so th 3in1 got 1 is extra? Turbobrick Neutral Newbie May 24, 2003 Share May 24, 2003 The only useful gauge to judge your driving style I know is a vacuum gauge for NA cars or turbo gauge for turbo cars. This type of gauge practically tells you how much throttle your can giving then you can develope a pattern of driving to suit your needs (economy vs performance and tell shift points). The only gauge that tells you when to shift is a shift light but that is usually for redlining to prevent over-revving. A/F meter is useful if you are tuning your A/F mixture with respect to engine timing and other parameters. 3 in 1 gauge kits are purely for convenience, if you don't need so many just get those you need. Alan22 Neutral Newbie May 24, 2003 Share May 24, 2003 volt one also not bad mah.. can see the voltage rating running ard ur car.. ermmm can we install a A/f gauge on a diesel engine.. im going to mod mine into the best looking fish truck ahahah
Hkfung Neutral Newbie May 24, 2003 Share May 24, 2003 What are the available gauges in the market?Vacuum Meter, Rich/Lean Meter, Volt Meter, Oil Pressure, Coolant Temperature? Is there any use? vacuum meter will indicate the best throttle for fuel efficiency at certain RPM..basically is to reduce 0 vacuum level. in other words, drive like a turtle. Air/Fuel may be useful when there are 2nd level air intake (ecotek, powerjet, etc) done. when A/F is running rich, time to reset ecu liao. beside than these....the looks lor...autometer the best! Jasper Neutral Newbie May 24, 2003 Author Share May 24, 2003 so i guess i will be install a/f ratio meter & vacuum meter on my a pillar. and 3in1 voltmeter, oil pressure, temperature. will the a/f radio meter goes up and down when u step acelerater? or it normally will be maintain same level.... the car in-build temperature gauge... refers to what temperature? oil temp? water/coolant temp? or the engine block temp? Astralee 2nd Gear May 24, 2003 Share May 24, 2003 the last part to yur Q is it measures the coolant temp..
Hkfung Neutral Newbie May 25, 2003 Share May 25, 2003 be careful abt vacuum installation. make sure the vacuum hose used is of good quality else after sometime, vacuum leak make sure the t-joint is properly installed. via my vacuum meter, crusing ard 100-110 is the best a/f ratio will scan throughout...i hv noticed mine will become rich when engine idle, which is a sign for me to reset the engine brain liao

Alan22 Neutral Newbie May 25, 2003 Share May 25, 2003 what will happen if the vacumm leaks.. will it affects the engine? watz the rough price u guys install the gauge.. let say a vacumm and a volt with blue backlited without A pillar mount.

Alan22 Neutral Newbie May 25, 2003 Share May 25, 2003 okie jasper.. keep mi updated in this thread if u got cheap lobangs.. i think range is ard 120 to 150 for 2 gauges + mount + installation.
Jasper Neutral Newbie May 25, 2003 Author Share May 25, 2003 I am thinking of installing this gauges. http://www.autogauge.com.tw/ I beg any comments from mcf experts.

Jasper Neutral Newbie May 25, 2003 Author Share May 25, 2003 wah... never realise install gauges need to cut here cut there... if i install vacuum meter & af meter... then must cut vacuum line, air sensor can tap, fuel sensor? thanks for the info... any suggestions where to get these gauges? autobac think will be expensive... ↡ Advertisement
