Guyver 1st Gear December 5, 2007 Author Share December 5, 2007 I had the same problem too when my SIL and BIL want to 'downgrade' their Vista laptops to XP. In the end, after searching thru the internet and found no definitive solution, I gave up... I've found all the drivers .... except the sound driver .... ↡ Advertisement
Gadgeter 2nd Gear December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 that's a very real problem, esp if one tries to downgrade to xp, as the vendor-specific drivers maybe very difficult to find, may even end up with just a dumb lappy that uses the speaker to beep on system events and no wifi no BT... Seems like a lot fo work to downgrade.. wonder how is guyver getting on with his new toy..

Gadgeter 2nd Gear December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 do a search for the driver... the provider is : Conexant
Azyati Neutral Newbie December 5, 2007 Share December 5, 2007 I've found all the drivers .... except the sound driver .... Yup, that's my stumbling block too. So I ask them and they want the sound. Quite rightfully so as I myself don't want a 'incomplete' laptop. So LL have to revert back to Vista after all the 'hard work'.
Guyver 1st Gear December 6, 2007 Author Share December 6, 2007 I have search all possible drivers for Conexant ..... still cannot work. Think if I really want the sound, I'll have ..... no choice but to switch back to Vista.
Silhoutte Clutched December 6, 2007 Share December 6, 2007 Dun flame me, IMHO, windows vista sucks cos its slow, windows xp sucks cos its still vulnerable. Mac OSX rules. Again I stress: IMHO. Cheers.

Silhoutte Clutched December 7, 2007 Share December 7, 2007 Yeah u can say that too haha. As for the better OS, I'm very much compelled to say that OSX is far better than Windows even in comparison of the older versions of the OSX to Win XP. Can't say much abt Vista, I had a chance to demo my colleague's Vista in his notebook but I personally felt that it was not as impressive as it was said to be. OSX is simply much more stable. Btw I own PC and Mac so I'm able to make comparison. I think even Linux is a viable choice compared to Windows given that Linux is very much advanced now. Cheers.
