Hi need feedback rgd abv topic. Looking 4 budget notebook n amd based systems usually cheaper but everywhere i go every salesman will say amd batt duration short some will even say max 45 mins etc. I know is subjective to how hard its used ie wifi, constant hard disk access, screen n batt settings etc. But how true is the abv based on actual ownershid n usage of both amd n intel systems? Inputs appreciated!

hey man...

Its depend on how u're going to use the notebook.

as far as i know, basic notebook is just for the purpose of watch movie, word, ppt, excel or email, surfing net... so if u use for that purpose it doesn't make any difference.

but in the other hand if u're using for drawing design (auto cad, pro engineering) get AMD becoz speed is faster but consume more power.

again if for gaming or design or drawing or whatsoever purpose.. then u should get a Desktop not Laptop (with AMD processor)

I'm a bit biase coz i'm working for AMD hahahaha. [:p]

there is a big difference

i have both intel and the amd turion laptop

i find that amd does give slightly better performance but uses more battery power and heats up much more.

in the long term the heat issue can destroy the laptop for frequent users - which was what happened to my turion laptop - mobo spoilt after 1.5 years

my advice is pay a few hundred more and get the intel.

amd is better for desktops imho

I agree.. But amd do not have the heat up prob anymore.. The old processor have this prob. I still don't like using intel. Maybe their single core ok.. but dual core onwards, no no for me. We know that theirs is not really dual core.. [dizzy]

Anyway get the laptop that u are comfortable with..

ehhhh... sorry to burst your bubble but i feel that amd still run hotter than intel, i used the turion series for notebook which claims better battery consumption and less heat but still lose lei.

but their dual core .........champion [thumbsup]

Turion is considered older generation processor.. heating is a problem.. [laugh] .. i intend to get amd quad core when launch next year for desktop.. should be solid..
