Hexy 1st Gear October 20, 2007 Share October 20, 2007 Turn off aircon.. But only do that at night unless u want to melt in the hot sun. Also avoid jams as much as possible..
Msimax Neutral Newbie October 20, 2007 Share October 20, 2007 If ur ride is drive by wire get a sprintbooster. It has served me well with faster pick-up & avg extra 50km per full tank. But that all depends on ur gear ratio & torque for ur ride.
Kelpie 2nd Gear October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 anyone? have Mods or devices that 100% work or driving techniques to share to improving Fuel Comsumption ( other than Light Foot driving ) 1. IMHO, hard to express in percentages. 1bhp increase may be alright to you (100%)but deem failure to some(49%). 1st of all, you have to define what you wanted to achieve. 2. For improving fuel economy(not fuel consumption), I can only see fuel catalyst that may yield some results. This is subjective based on your driving habits and traveling patterns. Fuel Cat may work but may not yield 100% satisfaction based on individual expectation. Forget about Magnets. They are just comestics, come in blue, red and may be purple . Icetrap 2nd Gear October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 anyone? have Mods or devices that 100% work or driving techniques to share to improving Fuel Comsumption ( other than Light Foot driving ) Fully ligthen your car. 1)Remove your Rear Seat And Passenger seat 2)Remove your steoro and alls useless wiring 3)Remove your spare tyre 4)Remove all the plastic paneling, Sound proofing 5)Remove your ABS, Power Steering, Air Con 6)Change all your windows to be plastic You will feel the car much faster. But will it be worth it? If not just settle for your normal, intake, header and exhuast mod. However take note the low end will suffer.
Shull Turbocharged October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 use lighter weighted engine oil.. i switched from SHU 5w40 to Amsoil 5w30 and noticed an immediate improvement in FC.. previously, i can hit only 510km on full tank before the petrol indicator lights lighted up..now on amsoil, i can do close to 560km before the light lighted up..also, i experienced smoother engine note and better acceleration.. Eyke Supercharged October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 (edited) anyone? have Mods or devices that 100% work or driving techniques to share to improving Fuel Comsumption ( other than Light Foot driving ) - keep your tyres inflated at a few PSIs above car-manufacturer recommended pressure No, it won't explode, as long as the pressure is below tyre's max pressure. In fact, underflated tyres run risk of exploding due to overheating! - reduce the weight you are carrying If you will just call a tow-truck or someone to change a flat tyre for you, then remove the spare tyre or replace it with a "fix-a-flat" spray can. Remove all the junk in your trunk. - use the least "weight" engine oil your car manufacturer recommends, eg. don't use 5w40 when you can use 5w30. No, bigger number doesn't mean better protection even if your car is a few years old. I use 5w20. - do not IDLE! If you have to wait for more than 1 minute, switch off your engine; it's a myth that restarting your engine uses more fuel. - do not WARMUP! There is no need to warmup your engine when you first start your car in the morning; read your car manual if you don't believe. Just don't rev too high until the temp is in optimal operating range, ie. needle in the middle. - do not upshift too fast The aim of the game is to go to the highest gear that traffic allows in a swift and smooth manner. Eg. 1st gear rev to 2.5-3K RPM -> 2nd gear rev to 2.5-3K RPM -> ... -> Cruise in top gear with lowest RPM possible (tap accelerator as required). More fuel is used when you use a higher gear but at too low revs, ie. "lugging", eg. upshift below 2K RPM and RPM drops below optimal rev range in the next gear, forcing you to step more on your accelerator -> waste more fuel. - observe traffic situation to avoid accelerating to brake - remove exterior items that increases aerodynamic drag Eg. Roof racks, flags, etc. - do not exceed the speed limits Most cars use least fuel running around 70-80km/h. Edited October 21, 2007 by Eyke

Eyke Supercharged October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 (edited) if restarting uses more fuel, you will not find cars with fuel-saving mechanism that switches off the engine when you come to a full stop then starts it up again when you release the brakes. From: http://www.rateempire.com/autoloan/gas5.html 10 seconds of a car standing idle can waste more fuel than simply turning the engine off and then restating it. From: http://www.edmunds.com/advice/fueleconomy/...42/article.html Recommendation: Stopping longer than a minute? Shut 'er down. From: http://www.howtoadvice.com/ReduceGasBills 18. If you must stop for more than 30 seconds, don't idle your car. The engine is more fuel efficient if your turn it off and restart it. From: http://autos.yahoo.com/consumerreports/art...aving_fuel.html With most gasoline engines, it's more efficient to turn off the engine than to idle for any longer than 30 seconds. Eyke Supercharged October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 - maintain your car Clean/change your air filter. Balance your wheels. Check/adjust wheel alignment. Check/replace spark plugs. etc... - do not overfill when you top up - top up when fuel is coolest Supposed to be densest so you get more fuel for the volume. - top up with higher octane petrol than recommended only when you own shares of oil companies Using 98 instead of your car-manufacturer-recommended 92 or 95 is simply giving your money away
Eyke Supercharged October 21, 2007 Share October 21, 2007 electrical motor don't idle, they are either on or off. hybrids usually use electrical motors for start off and low speeds, with the petrol engine cutting in at higher speeds to provide more power (at the price of petrol consumed), so petrol engines are switched off at low speeds and when the car is stopped. but for some performance hybrids, the electrical motors are there to provide instant power to aid acceleration from standstill and at low engine speeds. ↡ Advertisement
