Cloudy Wipers

Hey ppl,

My wiper blades will leave a cloudy haze during rainy days, any advice on this?

My blades are abt 9mths old. This situation did not happen in the first 2 mths on ownership being a new car, however, after the 3rd mth, this started to happen.

I tried using car shampoo to clean the blades and it improved a little but its back to normal after a few wipes.

Any useful advice greatly appreciated.

Thks

Sorry to dig out this old topic. I am also having the same problem and have performed the following actions

- Wash screen and wiper with mama lemon

- Replace wipers

- Spray with glass cleaner and rub with newspaper

But none of them works! Does anyone has any solutions?

hmm... could it be the solution you have in your water when you spray the glass?

or the wiper water you have in the car?

sometimes that solution could be the reason why the wipe becomes cloudy cos the residue is making the wiper sticky, thus re-distributing the dirt that was wiped away back onto the glass.

Try cleaning with water.

if cannot, use super fine sand paper to give the wiper blade a one time "wipe" to remove and smoothen the rough edges on the blade itself that is causing the dirt to be trapped.

found you a link which has better description of what i shared.

I had that problem as well. Clean glass, clean wipers, use AG glass polish, use newspaper etc. Think some forumer suggested to use Soft99 Glass compound Z. I tried it and it works. Also gets rid of the wiper streak marks. Can buy at Autobacs, its at the glass cleaning section.

I also had this problem previously and I tried a few methods. I used mama lemon to clean windshield and wiper blade rubber but didn't help much. Tried glass cleaner also didn't help. Then I tried compound z but still cloudy. Finally I changed wiper blades and it was 100% better. So disappointed that my Borsch Aero wiper blades became cloudy and streaky after about 6 months. Changed to a cheaper brand Denso since I think it's no point to get such an expensive wiper since cannot last that long.

yah...i also noticed that ever since they changed the location of production to China, the blades seems not as good quality.....

I suppose that's the reason why rubber is still the better material for wipers. It's added with graphite to eliminate noise & chatter.

Silicon is harder & tend to be harsher to the windscreen.

I am using frameless silicon wipers n ty already 3 yrs old n still very good wipe. Buy in JB for abt RM24ea.

Try to get those with graphite as ty r smoother n wipe smoothly.

Neutral Newbie

My problem is finally resolved!

I bought an oil film remover from daiso (a small red bottle and comes with a sponage) and rub it on my windscreen. After that i used Hi-Glaze 88 and rub a thin layer on my windscreen.

Now my wipers swipe silky smooth across my windscreen with no haze.
