Engine flushing necessary?

Heard from forum that flushing is meant for those engines with higher mileage like 100,000km and above [nod][nod][nod]

If you change your engine oil regularly, can skip this flushing step [nod][nod][nod]

Sometimes, flushing might not do good to your engine instead [;)]

Must be WS recommend him... [sly]

i went outside WS to do servicing recently, they asked me if i want. but my reply was firm and confident and they didn't push it further to me...

i believe in changing oil at or before recommended service interval, so dun think i'll ever need flushing

for 20k KM servicing, is it necessary to do engine flushing? thanks

saw on a web video discussing abt engine flushing... its the japan vtec q&a program where they ask abt engine oil and other stuff...

basically the chief engineer of spoon answer the question of engine flushing and that we should never try to perform an engine flush as it will flush the metal debris into the tight tolerance engine area and will do harm to the engine itself...

this i agreed also... so dont waste the money... there no need... [thumbsup]

What about i the process switching types of engine oil frequently...? [confused]

Let says,

1. Brand A of Full sync. [Not happy with the feels]

2. Brand B of semi sync. [ Again, not happy with the feels]

3 etc and so on...!

Some mechanics do say flushing is good to clear off the old engine oil. But...?

Really confusing... [confused]

well.. even if u change engine oil, also no need for engine flush.

Do remember that not all mechanics are equal.. their knowledge and experience really differs like heaven and earth. Although all mechanics are making a living, some do tends to encourage unnecessary jobs jsut to make extra $$.

My mechanic told me NOT to flush. He believe that doing an engine flush when engine is young and no sludge formed is simply damaging yr engine. This i agree..

In fact, as long as you are using fully synthetic oil, and u change them often enough ie: either 6 month or 10000km which ever comes 1st.. we wouldn't need an engine flush at all maybe until 200000km or until sludge are formed in the engine for some strange reasons.

PS: 2 yrs ago i have tried that engine flush thing at CAS last time at 20000km too when i just got my car. its just a waste of $$.. totally NOT necessary and god knows what future damage is that stupid flush gonna create? i will not do that again until totally necessary

Don't waste your money. Unless your engine is seriously sludged up (which i doubt a 20000km engine will be), there is no need for it at all. Even if its a high mileage engine with some sludge, i would rather run a high detergency engine oil and change it more often.
