anyone can share their experience or advise on the subject above? currently considering taking over my friend's DC5R at scrap value only concern is that mileage is quite high above 100,000km and it is almost 5yr old...

so far everyone i spoke to, strongly adv against it as it would mean topping up $ for a similar age car... wear and tear normally sets in from the 5yr.

*confuse*

i sold my 4yr old galant for a 5yr old EuroR (mileage was 130k [:p]) in May.... NO REGRETS and no problems!!! [:)]

apparently DC5R no timing belt... using chain...hence can "siam" the major servicing?? cos i rem doin my 80k servicing with timing belt change... gosh!! insanely $$ [furious]

He does take very gd care of his car use OWS oil, service regularly, stock condition, though went track a couple of times... i was there too [thumbsup] moment oil reaches 120... he wud cruise back.

personally, i doubt the car would be a lemon and am quite confident can use for another 2-3yrs without any issues... but the fear is always there... if i bring it to my mech what should my mech look out for? other thing i can only take over the car sometime in dec-jan when his new car arrives [crazy]

there is some transfer fee & stamp duty etc... any idea how much would tat cost? i would like to retain my current plate too :)

your friend is pretty smart, isn't he? a 5yr old performance car

would easily be a trash after rough usage. You can't possibly

burn tire out of yr tame saloon? so advantage is 4yrs old saloon >

5yrs old performance trash can.
