Wii Japan sales overwhelm PS3

TOKYO (Reuters) - Nintendo Co Ltd's <7974.OS> Wii videogame console outsold Sony Corp's <6758.T> PlayStation 3 by more than four to one in Japan in April-September, game magazine publisher Enterbrain said on Monday.

 

Nintendo sold about 1.6 million units of the Wii over 26 weeks through September 23 in its home market, compared with 385,492 units of the PS3 sold, Enterbrain said.

 

The Wii features a motion-sensing controller that lets users direct on-screen action by swinging it like a racket or sword, helping widen the machine's appeal.

 

Sony's PS3 suffered a slow start since its launch last November due to its high price and scarcity of strong software titles.

Expected lah, PS3 does not have a flagship game to boost its branding unlike Nintendo which has a long history in handheld + console games.

thw Wii's formula is simple: a game console for the masses, young and old, male or female.

 

and it's one of the newer cheaper consoles now.

And also because Sony's ego grow too big, felt that people will buy because of Playstation.....so they deserve it

it's actually close to 400. but the controllers are pretty ex i think. nonetheless many feel it more worth it. some just buy mainly as family gaming console. they have they own xboxes or PS but buy another extra Wii so everyone can play.

Wii is more suitable for mass (old young , men n female) while PS3 target diff group. Good for us consumer mah. I expect Sony to slash their PS3 price soon. Hooray.........
