Porker Turbocharged September 26, 2007 Share September 26, 2007 Give the dude a break lah bro. Buses break down often as they run high mileage everyday. Just squeeze their balls and get them to lower the fares
Jman888 Moderator September 26, 2007 Share September 26, 2007 try running your car 12 hours a day, 7 days a week. see the chance of break down on the road
Comfy 1st Gear September 26, 2007 Share September 26, 2007 i think most buses run more than 12 hours a day.. a normal car will up lorry with usage like tat..
Ronnchee Clutched September 26, 2007 Author Share September 26, 2007 They have a few depots, maint dept, huge profit reserve, and yet still raise the transport fares. Yes, the bus only run 12 hrs, or make it 18 hrs, the bal 4-6 hrs can send for a proper maint, right. A breakdown bus is only a statistic to them, but to the rest of the road users, is opportunity cost, and hundred of man hours wasted. Imagining 100 cars with 2 passengers in it, and waited for 15 mins, that's 50 hrs man hours.
Ronnchee Clutched September 26, 2007 Author Share September 26, 2007 Remember the "excuse" they always gave when the PTO up their fares ... better service, better vehicles ... blah blah blah, but look at the frequency of bus breakdown. Almost everyday I see a bus breakdown, somewhere. On the other hand, I hardly see taxi breakdown.
Ronnchee Clutched September 26, 2007 Author Share September 26, 2007 I am not blaming on the bus driver, oops... bus captain. It's the PTO I am referring to.

Skyw4lker Clutched September 26, 2007 Share September 26, 2007 you newbie driver is it? it's common sight seeing buses, coaches, taxis and even cars breakdown. Hope your car don't break down , if not can others claim you as well?
Kopisiao Neutral Newbie September 26, 2007 Share September 26, 2007 are breakdown rates also measured when they look into bus company's service standard? sometimes i see passengers either made to wait along the road or walk to the next bus stop. looks kind of dangerous. Camrysfa Turbocharged October 6, 2014 Share October 6, 2014 well, it is not the bus company fault. just borrowing this thread to post this amusing episode. by now, it would have passed. see video . . . like candid camera, haha Ulu Pandan bus stop has commuters confused http://www.tnp.sg/news/ulu-pandan-bus-stop-has-commuters-confused?utm_content=bufferccde5&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter.com&utm_campaign=buffer A temporary bus stop at Ulu Pandan Road has confused some commuters. When the bus stops, they have to negotiate past shrubs and climb over a metal rail guard to board the bus. Mr Allen Zheng, 52, a freelancer in the advertising industry, who used the bus stop, asked: "Is this a bus stop or an obstacle course?" On Thursday night, the Public Utilities Board (PUB) clarified that this bus stop and another other across the road were not meant to be used yet. They were built to replace two bus stops that have been temporarily closed because of canal upgrading works.

Aiyo, they have good intention lah They want us to keep fit, so create obstacle course for us lah, we misunderstood their good intention On a side note, poor planning. Take down bus stops when the temp ones are ready to use; if not, how to expect safety on commuters when they use the not-ready-to-use temp bus stops.
