Gilgamesh Neutral Newbie September 25, 2007 Share September 25, 2007 Which topics of Windows Server 2003 and MS Exchange (version?) are you asking about? "Setup" has a rather wide scope.... Is this a home installation or r u actually installing it for a company? Do you already has environmental information ready such as : 1) Internet connection; 2) Domain name (registered or private - for emails, DNS, Internet presence, Active Directory, etc); 3) IP settings (what IP range? how many subnets? routing required?); 4) Intended Active Directory structure; 5) DHCP or Static IP? Madsumm 1st Gear September 25, 2007 Share September 25, 2007 U need someone with the following knowledge: - Active Directory - DNS/DDNS - Exchange - SMTP These are the minimal
Slowmo Clutched September 25, 2007 Share September 25, 2007 (edited) Your earlier definition is very broad, but if you are looking for someone to maintain the email accounts and the server in your company. Make sure you find someone who will not mess it up for everyone, because to do an exchange migrations and fix exchange design problems, most administrators will prefer to throw themselves off tall buildings. You need someone who AT LEAST: - understands what is the difference betw pop3/smtp/mapi - knows how to administer exchange mailboxes - knows how to administer user accounts via active directory - knows what is a mailstore, mailbox and mailer - knows what is MX, MTA, Bind, and behaviours of AD versus BIND zone transfers - knows how to maintain the global address book. - does not tell you that exchange is the best email solution, but knows how to link up exchange with other email solution like sendmail, postfix, qmail and the likes. anyone with a braindumped MCSE can tell you they know - AD - exchange You will have better luck from a pool of MCSEs in hardwarezone (no joke), or scan from job sites. Just to let you know real exchange administrators don't come cheap. Edited September 25, 2007 by Slowmo
