Organised road trips

My wife hates the idea of driving up all by ourselves to KL or Malacca. And if any of our friends were to come along on a seperate car, she is fine. I think the bad press of robbers etc in M'sia has frightened her.

 

Are there any tour groups etc that does these kindda of trips regularly... ie drive up in convoy and they get all the lodging etc for us etc...

 

Any idea on this? thanks.

1. KL is pretty ok, you know. In fact, I find KL the safest among the rest of the cities for my many visit there. I don't like to join convoy as it is time consuming to wait for each other, more over KL is just 3 hours away. Just drive to a decent 4 stars or a 5 stars hotel or if really frighten, pay more to park at the VIP lot lor.

 

2. Another way is to park in the hotel, leave it there and shop around using public transportation.

I returned from KL in one piece (today). Was there on Friday. Just to have you know... I drove a blue and white propeller car into KL and did not get any trouble whatsoever. Not trying to show off or anything but just wanna highlight that the robberies in MY is over-rated.

 

Just go up. Exercise caution and keep a low profile and stay in a reputable 5 star hotel and all will be fine. Oh I even dropped the top and drove around KL. Nothing happened. Nope. Zilch. Nader

Good attempt. So those really scare one better don't go and drive only in SG for good.

but i was very "displeased" when some guys commented: "huh? go malaysia? dun wan la..... our good cars enjoy in spore can alr".....

 

a group of 16 cars went up, some (not present ones) still scare!!!! i think for e next trip, i gotta go for a headcount of 30cars alr!!!!!!!!!!1

There's such drive tours around.... but you'll be paying a hefty premium for their services in arranging lodgings, food, etc....

 

They usually go by per head charges (rather than per car).

 

Best is to gather a few friends, do your research , and then go together if that gives you peace of mind. Then after gaining experience after a couple of times, you might even want to do it solo already.

Driving up to KL should be safe.. Just back yesternight and everything is fine..

no TP along the way, no robbers, only monkeys and some deers(or goats??) on the road.. customs at both side are friendly.. they actually smile at you!!!

even see a SGY plated mazda 6 without the road tax sticker..
