MAGIC #1

An Indian discovered that nobody can create a FOLDER anywhere on the computer which can be named as "CON". This is something pretty cool...and unbelievable... At Microsoft the whole Team, couldn't answer why this happened! TRY IT NOW ,IT WILL NOT CREATE " CON " FOLDER

Ok.. #2 has been explained.. #3 is probably an easter egg...

This, #1 is what I am going to debunk.

It is not true that nobody in MS cannot answer. Those who are in the DOS era will understand. CON is a reserved word (short for console I guess.) built into the basic system, similar to NUL (Try it, you can't create a folder or file called NUL as well... Hey ! I also discovered something that MS cannot explain !!!! But I am not Indian...)

NUL (short for Null) is a bidirectional device, though which all I/Os are GONE.

CON is also bidirectional, through which all inputs are taken from keyboard, and all outputs are to the screen.

For example, without a file editor while in DOS, how to you create a text file ?

"copy con test.txt". This will put whatever you type into the file named test.txt, until the "End of file" is encountered (which is done by pressing Control and Z)

notice it is the same format as "copy file1.txt file2.txt" which copies everything in file1.txt into file2.txt

So these legacies are still there, as there is still DOS prompt, even till today's Windows Vista.

(P/S. There is also "PRN" that is reserved, for Printer, etc.. I can't remember all)
