Relagsingh 4th Gear September 19, 2007 Share September 19, 2007 yeah. mugen tuned civic FD2s are great no doubt, just look at the timing they can achieve at suzuka. But being FWD, that's what really amazes me. compared to the porsches, evos, Z4s... ↡ Advertisement
Relagsingh 4th Gear September 19, 2007 Share September 19, 2007 the Z4s belong to the petronas syntium team. i think they also competed in some races of the japanese super taikyu series if i'm not wrong.

Abba Neutral Newbie September 20, 2007 Share September 20, 2007 The Honda Civics by the Honda Factory Team were fast. They had very skilled and experienced drivers. They had a superb pit crew. BUT... I think they should play on a level field. In order to race in the Class A which is standard production cars with limited parts that you can mod, the Honda produced a limited number of Civics which are identical to theirs, that is fully lightened and equipped with modified racing Mugen Type R engines and carbon panels!!! I'm sure all protest would have been taken into account and the stweards would have done the scrutinising. Racing is a $$ game, who ever has more $$ has a higher chance of winning. Winning team using a Porsche GT3 RSR, it'll take another RSR to beat it unless DNF due to relaibility.

Chisiang 2nd Gear September 20, 2007 Author Share September 20, 2007 ya boy... it's all about the $$$$ *ke jing* *ke jing* *ke jing* heard the Singapore Porsche club's equipment alone can buy 1 more RSR siah. Slicks tyres alone also can buy 1 Honda Fit liao.

Abba Neutral Newbie September 23, 2007 Share September 23, 2007 Most SG teams are not send in, so not actually representing anybody, but off hand I can think of about 4 teams. I think Marcus Goh driving DC5 got 3rd for group A. Rhomell's DC5 was in 3rd but in the final hour one of the wheel nut gave way and the front right wheel flew off But I think Edge Racing did not qualify. Team ST Power qualified poll in group A with fastest group A timing. However, their Evo9 developed some technical problems some hours into the race and they had to replace the entire head gasket, troubleshoot a radiator leakage problem, and repair the front cooked 6pots Brembo GT brakes. After the repairs, they were last out of 70+ cars and were about 40 laps behind the last car. But despite being 40 laps behind THE LAST CAR, they managed to catch up to mid table and ranked no.8 in class. which really impressed me. If I'm not wrong I think our Team Porsche Singapore clocks the fastest lap. They were in no.1 position until their gearbox developed some problems and had to retire. Overall all the Singapore teams really put up a great show. Professional, quality, and great sportsmanship. We showed them what a country without a proper circuit can achieve! And we also showed ourselves that we really really deserve a 1st class F1 circuit of our own KEEP RACING GUYS!! (The legal type) Guess 1 fast lap doesn't win the race. Brembo Gt brakes are not that good, I'm surprised ST Power didn't use APP brakes that they promote
Chisiang 2nd Gear September 25, 2007 Author Share September 25, 2007 yeah, endurance race is about reliability, preserving the car, and fueling/pitstop frequency strategies. my mistake for the brakes. It is either the Brembo Racing Gran Touring 6 opposing piston calipers or the Brembo Racing Trans Am 6 oppsoing piston calipers, rather than the street use Grand Turismo Big brake kit. Abba Neutral Newbie September 28, 2007 Share September 28, 2007 just remembered reading in the papers that ST Power was involved in some fighting during Merdeka some time back, it was quite a highly publicised case that many local papers covered it. Isn't ST Power ban from participating in Merdeka?
