the using of hazard lights are being practiced in other countries like indonesia and malaysia..esp in very bad visiblity on expressway/highway ONLY..

but seems like here, we use hazard light more when we need to stop by the roadside or just to 'chop' a parking lot..so using this locally may cause confusion to other road users..

another UNIQUELY SINGAPORE

A lot of taxi uncles do this in very heavy rain..i've seen it before twice. In Genting, it is also done when it is foggy...and i think in fact, in Malaysia..it is done once it has very heavy rain...

Now that i know it is not illegal to do so..i think i would turn on hazard lights if the weather conditions get really adverse... coz it is very useful to see the visibilities of cars..in addition to the normal lights and foglights.

Hi guys,

1. With reference to this thread at http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Stupid_Civ...053609/#2053609.

2. It is not an offence to use hazard light during adverse weather condition. So just vote YES or NO on whether you think it should be use or not.

Thank you.

Regards,

i don't see how this poll will help.

i believe no matter what is the outcome, most of us will still do what we think is proper.

no matter what the outcome is,the law is not going to change.

DRIVING WITH HAZARD LIGHT ON IS NOT AN OFFENCE.

i don't see that it is improper during poor visibility.

proper or improper is subjective to individual.

and i sense some people will create new account just to vote.sly.gif

I feel that the hazard should be use during adverse weather condition - real bad weather like extreme foggy and thunderstorm condition because it increases the visibility of yourself to other road users.

If there is a need to use left or right signal, turn off the hazard light first then use your signal... a bit troublesome.. but no choice.. it is only safe to do so.... . Anyway, in such adverse conditions you dun change lane as often as on good weather days right?

Those with rear fog light can use it, then dun turn on the hazard light already...

i vote yes, not an offence.. there are cases when the rain is really too heavy and u cant see properly .. espcially during the nite when the rain is too heavy u cant see anything beyond 2-3 car length at all. So its a safety precaution ma, no harm anyway. that button might save ur life [angel]

Most cars are equipped with rear fog lamps in their brake cluster so this is the correct thing to use in bad weather.

Having hazard lights on can be confusing. How do you tell it apart from a car that is geniunely stalled on the roads and using the lights to warn others? Also the directional signal lights will not work when the hazard lights is switched on so how to you signal your lane changes and so on?
