Koolaba 1st Gear September 13, 2007 Share September 13, 2007 To all prospective Superb buyers, locations for placing the reverse sensors are already catered for in the rear bumper cover. It will be adviseable to instruct your SE not to drill additional holes below the rubbing strip for aesthetic reasons. The following pictures were extracted from Briskoda. ↡ Advertisement
Try_conti 2nd Gear September 13, 2007 Share September 13, 2007 My A4 do not have such luxury but cannot commend on the A5. Does A5 also have this 'feature' ?
Echelon 3rd Gear September 13, 2007 Share September 13, 2007 Thanks for the tips Koolaba. Skodasales - IMHO Koolaba here made an excellent point here, from the last meet up we had when Koolaba made this observation and share with the owners, we realized this as well, and if only we knew this earlier. After that I noticed Audi's and VW's sensors on the strips instead of teh bumper itself, also notice it is Mercs and Beemers too among other cars. Could Skoda make this a policy to drill at the strip instead on the bumper since on the strip itself has existing sensor positions for this purpose. To drill on the bumper itself is firstly to the owner of the car very unsightly and secondly it should be easier to drill on the strip itself than unto the bumper. Skodasales Neutral Newbie September 13, 2007 Share September 13, 2007 Bro Koolaba - much thanks again for your invaluable input. You never cease to amaze me with your knowledge. Bro Echelon - I will bring this up to PDI for info and evaluation and hope they will adopt this in future. However, me too small fry to influence policy. Haiz... Benefits of drilling on strip 1. drill on bumper - unsightly 2. easier to drill on strip 3. Drill on strip - no need to spray paint the reversed sensor = save costs I think number 3 is the reason they will most welcomingly accept.
Koolaba 1st Gear September 14, 2007 Author Share September 14, 2007 (edited) All it takes is for CA/CnC personnel to remove the rear bumper cover and check if the standard holes for installing the reverse sensors are present. Original Skoda reverse sensors are available in a set of 4. Hence 4 holes should be catered for on the bumper cover. The sensors are placed below the rubbing strip on the Octavia A4 and A5. I have included the following URLs which depict the positions of the original reverse sensors on a A4 Octavia Laurin & Klement and A5 Edition 100. http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/printer_321.shtml However, it is also possible to install the sensors on the rubbing strip of the A4, as demonstrated by one of our bros. http://www.mycarforum.com/forum/Volkwagen_...2006_P1447699-6 In my opinion, it could be impossible to do so on the A5 because the profile of the rubbing strip is slightly tilted. The following URL features more shots (+ butt shots) of Skodas taken from a French site. It will give you a good idea where the original installation locations of the reverse sensors are. http://www.forum-auto.com/les-clubs/sectio...sujet376104.htm Edited September 14, 2007 by Koolaba ↡ Advertisement
