Dirty Linen Exposed by Audit Checks in MY

I am not amazed [shocked] when I read in today ST that MY Gov department paid dubious prices for items which cost much less on the street. Could not imagine how their AG department could approved RM117 million on 2 helicopters for their police force which does not suit their operational requirement. Both helicopters landed in the fire department instead with additional cost thrown in for training pilots to fly them.

Paid RM70 for a set of screwdrivers which cost mere RM10/- at hardware shop. [sly][sly] [sly]

So the past stories & theories of under table moneies being passing around from one to another in order to secure projects seem profound after all. [thumbsdown][thumbsdown][thumbsdown]

Not what I know off. In SG, 3 quotes are require for every items purchase and going through at least 2 approving officers.

Just as shown in the last movie directed by Jack Neo. (forget the English title of the movie : the Chinese title is I am Working in a Gov Department)

I am not surprised at all bcos this happens at every corner of the MY govt sectors. One of my relatives, a datuk, once told me that chinese contractors who supplied building materials to build certain buildings for their govt earned large margins. Now to get those contract, you gotta wine/dine(you know what I mean?) . Maybe thats why now they say a minimum no. of contracts must go to Bumi firms, which is actually worse.

Neutral Newbie

there may be a 3 quotation system, but who decides which to take?

somemore, you have to 'invite' contractors/vendors to quote. you can 'choose' who to invite.

you may be working in the govt. but please keep your eyes open.

[laugh][laugh] Ha..ha.. not born yesterday,

Knew it all these time from my relatives in MY but do not want to mention until it is made known in the press by themselves. There are a lots of other stories from the very top to the lowest ranking.

I believe more to come but definitely censored from now on. Don't know how this one exposed to press. Which gov wants to wash their dirty linen in public. [sly][sly]
