Heads up. I have a pal that was just duped into buying a $3000 speaker set for $400. Watch out for the white van that tries to sell speakers from their van.

However if they sell Skoda accesories give me a ping. [;)]

They also approach me once last month INSIDE the Bugis Junction parking lot. To think that they go all the way into the underground carpark to hawk their stuff ..... tongue.gif

I just kena stopped by them a few days back near Bugis area.

Never heard of the brand before..... sounds palia and wat with those gold coins.

But must admit that the guy makes a very good salesman as he kept talking abt the sets and wat not etc. But can feel he damn pushy too......

And nope, I didn't buy from him. The way he pitches his speech is damn suspicious too.

Was feeling quite free and abit bored that day too [laugh]

maybe you should surf the main forum of MCf like "lite & easy" and "General car discussion".

this was discussed many times and most of us are already aware of such syndicate.smile.gif

by the way,why do you use the word "duped"?

was the set spoiled or bad quality?

Duped - means kenna conned.

Can CASE or Police do anything about this? Wonder what category is this under in CASE? Or is there any case for this?

I was surprise that this has been around for 10 years already. [jawdrop]

I have got a colleague that came to me one day, asking if this particular brand of home theater speakers are genuine stuff. I asked him which brand it was and bought from who. Well, he said, its bought from a van that was pushing him to buy. So, he paid $200 for a total of 5 speakers. After some checks on the www, I called the supposedly agent/distributors of the speakers in SG. The fella over the phone told me that that particular brand of speakers were never intended for local and was meant for export. Then I told him my colleague has bought from a van. Afterwhich he thanked me for informing him and that he will check.

Thereafter, I told my colleague it seemed that the goods were too good to be true, could have been "water goods". I asked him what he intended to do with it. He said he just want to know if the speakers are genuine. I asked him if the speakers have given him any problem, he said none. Then I console him that if the five speakers can last him for one year or more and serve him well, would it have been considered a cheap buy for a mere $200/12=$16.60 per month? The main point here is, he has already bought it, so I thought it will be doing him good to throw another perspective to him...think about it...wink.gif...dun get me wrong, I am not promoting.

Buy $3000 speaker for $400 = good bargain?

In wat way ur pal is duped? Are the goods fake or inferior? I was once approached by these ppl some 5 yrs back. Father was driving. They drove beside my car and wind down the window asking my father to stop. Coincidentally my father was looking for a set of speakers at the same time. I think they tailed us from Courts or something like that(too long time ago cannot remember).Tempted but suspicious. Coz right smack in the middle of the neighbourhood. In the end reject the guy lor.
