Maxus-MIFA9 Supersonic September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 Sorry, just to check if driving a msia car in msia needs to apply for the IDP??lets say if i am going to stay there for less than one week... need to apply?? SG licence can drive MY registered car in MY but cannot drive MY registered car in SG. You don't require a IDP in MY. The problem is the insurance coverage. Mama Neutral Newbie September 13, 2007 Share September 13, 2007 (edited) Not fortunate...just informed!! haha seriously...i went to the relevant authorities (I just can't remember the name now: they issue learners'/drivers' permit etc) to enquire as I had wanted to apply for their local driver's permit. Decided against eventually...as I was not going to apply for PR Edited September 13, 2007 by Mama
MQX87511 5th Gear July 9, 2017 Share July 9, 2017 Hi bros, I found our Singapore driving license devalued dramatically in other countries, recently my company relocated me to Mid-east country Oman for job, to drive local vehicle must have local country driving license, I thought our Singapore driving license should be directly exchange to local license, just have a theory and eyesight test, however the traffic police said that Singapore driving license is not recognized in Gulf countries, you have to pass entire process for new drive license application, include the theory test, medical check then attend 50 practical lessons and pass road test, total cost about S$3000, assume you pass road test in 1st attempt, OMG! how our Singapore driving license devalue so much, I saw their driving license direct exchange countries list: East Asia countries except Japan, Korea, Australia, New Zeeland even included Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, but no have Singapore

The later is likely more the case. What I didn't understand is the application for international licence at AA, basically they are just transferring your info into a card and signed off by AA with a $20 payment. How on earth is AA more recognized than LTA?
bunnyhops Neutral Newbie July 26, 2019 Share July 26, 2019 Asking for a family member. He recently received a doctor's memo addressed to the traffic police, advising him to stop driving due to old age. Will the traffic police receive this memo electronically/automatically? Or need to be submitted physically? TIA

How on earth is AA more recognized than LTA? The IDP by AA is not a licence itself. It's actually a multi language booklet that help foreign non English country to translate your driving licence itself. So without your driving licence present, the IDP itself is useless. Basically, from the link, the onus is on the relative to submit it personally in order to have his/her licence renewed. Safe ride Cheers

Neutralsg 5th Gear July 28, 2019 Share July 28, 2019 Presume your family member mentioned is 65 years old or above. Based on Singapore law, all drivers from 65 years old are required to pass a medical examination before their driving licence can be renewed. Medical examination fees costs $30/- For info, renewal of driving licence for the medically fit can be done via email or post without the need to go to the TP HQ. If the doctor had recommended he or she stops driving, it is likely the doctor had not certified him or her to be fit for driving. Hence, whether he or she passed the medical examination is verifiable through the medical examination form provided by the traffic police for endorsement by a certified doctor. For those with Class 4 and above, they are required to pass a competency test before their heavy vehicle licence can be renewed. Cost for this is currently $165/- inclusive of vehicle rental etc.. If one does not intend to renew their licence for Class 4 and above (which is subject to annual medical examination and competency test) but intend to keep their licence for Class 3 and below, they have to surrender their licence in person to TP for the cancellation of their heavy vehicle licence. Heavy vehicle licence is not renewable beyond the age of 75. If one does not intend to renew their licence, they have to surrender their licence at TP HQ in Ubi by post or in person. Hope above info is useful for those approaching 65 years old. Asking for a family member. He recently received a doctor's memo addressed to the traffic police, advising him to stop driving due to old age. Will the traffic police receive this memo electronically/automatically? Or need to be submitted physically? TIA ↡ Advertisement
