I am considering getting the 2L Civic .. it's cheap now ... but can it outrun a RX7 ? i dont want to loose to my classmate!

if you talking about FD 2.0Si.. no u dont stand a chance with the rx-7

if you talking about a fully lightened ef/eg/ek hatchback with modded b20c.. yes it will smoke the crap out of the rx7 even in NA.. not talking about TC yet

different class of car....depending on wat type of race... if drag, a fully lightened civic with B20 will definitely put a run for the money against the RX7..

however if its in the circuit, tat may be a different story.

anyway, both class of car are so far apart to have a far comparision.

Recently view a show on RX-7. Very Popular car with people who like to drag. Because of its engine design, it has an inheritence problem of Turbo lag, you need an experience RX-7 driver to know when to accelerate to obtain its optimal potential.

do u mean it is possible for a vtec-less cam to generate more hp then a vtec? confused.gif

wats your setup?

non-vtec head is more suitable to play turbo.

if you wnat to play NA,you can't live without Vtec.

not really ... it all depends on wat the engine is setup for... pure peak power at higher rpm range more suited for drag, use of Vtec Killer cams are still feasible for NA setup.

as for turbo, u dun really need the Vtec IMHO... since the RPM climbs up so fast during full spooling... whether u have or dun have also not much diff...u'll want to run a cam that is having the appropriate duration & lift to maximise the air flow..

for NA setup, we will want the longest valve overlap duration tat is most feasible....

WOW revelation answer... so VTEC is NOT power? [dead]

if u fully understand how the "Vtec" system works...

during normal operations, only one of the intake valve is extended fully, while the other is open slightly.... during the Vtec kick-in, the rocker arm are engaged to the High Lift lobes on the cam which extends both valve more than the normal operating lobes

u can take a look at the following vids n notice that one of the valve is only slightly open.

the 13B rotary engine are effectively a V6 engine....

even in NA mode, those early days 12A or 13B rotary are pretty impressive

Certainly impressive with only 1.3L. Easily mod to 400-500bhp according to the show. But the dragger admitted that turbo lag is its greatest enemy for rotary engine on Turbo.

They missing a lot,the sound of engine scream is [inlove]

Subjective lah. I personally think that sound is crude. Prefer a flat six or M engine sound anytime. Like I said, its subjective

they are not 1.3 if u ask me.... their effective volume are much more than 1.3

if i remember correctly, the correct calculation u need to factor in 1.7 to get the actual working volume

1.7 X 1308 = 2223.6cc

1. So long the owners are laughing about the saving on road tax and the authorities don't case, everyone happy.

2. This is also a reason why it is popular among the dragger because of low road tax. Save the money and mod somemore.

1. Aiya, if want to drive such car, must have the dough to feed it.

2. Is it true that they have already stop production of RX-7 and is fast becoming a collector item?
