U r the guy from the other thread about ur engine piang rite?

Or rather have a "piang" sound becoz u lower down ur gear and over-rev....

Hows ur ride now....

i have to disagree with some of ur points...

theoretically the exhaust valve is open only after the intake valve closes.... but in practical, tat does not happens.... u still need overlapping of valves to create drafting of the intake air.

valve overlapping occurs all the time even in low rpm range, duration of the overlapping depedant on the cam lobe/profile design.

if the overlaps are extended, logically there will be a better scavenging of exhaust air, more air/fuel are drafted into the combustion chamber n some will actually leak out together with the exhaust gases.... however there is a cut-off limit as to how much it can be extended..... u may face "compress leak" n instead looses power at the end.

this is one reason why most race cam will require the adjustable cam gear/sprocket for fine tuning.

if u want to play with overlaps, u will also need to special tune the exhaust header... this will be good if u can do an echo pulse tuning

yup. the opening and closing i mentioned is to describe one cycle. to get the main idea. revs per min...even at 1000 idle...sure overlap a little...just not as heong as those killer cams.

my friend eg6 b20 with a b18 or prelude head (can't remember what head. not sure whether got such prelude head anot)without mod, he dyno at 215bhp. he show me the chart. true anot i can't comment. mayb have to ask the expert. any expert out there can advise? mine can rev quite high 6000-7000 no pro. tho vtec on at 5500rpm. [;)]

Building a B20 takes experience. any mech can just slap on a 2 litre CRV block to a Vtec head.

I have seen some stock B20s giving only 170BHP. These are figures which i find are more realistic. CRV compression ratio was only about 9+. such low compression, even with a Vtec head, how much power can it give? The engineering is all wrong! Honda never meant for it to be that way.

A good B20 would be one that is built taking in a engineering balancing and precision to replicate the precision and blue-printed-ness of a B18C5. Always bearing reliability in mind first before power. I have seen such a B20. the block itself took about $7000 to build. We havnt even seen the head. With the head and some cams in, the whole engine costed about $10K plus.

Such engine is one where a NA car can give you the feel you never thot possible unless in a turbo car....and yet last the tortures of a good track day at Sepang.

i saw before an EG6 with a well-built B20, a simple and good exhaust system, and a spoon ecu.

does the trick if the B20 is well built. 220 horses at wheel (yes!!! @ wheel).

what do you think will happen to the base WRX and the lightly modded WRX.... hehehe

actually, I'm not saying WRX is not good. it all depends on the driver. That said, a NA car is more "easy" to control, especially when you go into bends and corners.

alot of people don't believe that a NA VTEC can beat turbo cars.

of course, if its on a pure straight road, the person with the most money will win, 'cos he will just lup a big turbo. ;)

those 260-280hp NA Civic can put a run for the $$$ against those 400+hp Evo & Rex...

i've seen 400+hp Evo got trashed by NA EG6.... of course the driver must have some skills involved

ya man... [laugh][laugh][laugh]

in fact the most powerful honda I've seen is an EG6.

imagine 220 horses at wheel..... moving a body that weighs only slightly over 900 kg... [sly]

the worst thing is..... it looks just like the normal EG6... except for the slightly bigger exhaust....

and the good handling that already comes with it??

good that you admit you are wrong too.

K20 EG6 = Honda's B-series perfect engineering masterpiece

LOL

So sorry for bringing up such an old thread. Many years have passed since then but this thread I will always remember.

This thread was one that made me realise that the world out there was so much bigger that the squabbles I was having in MCF.

And since then, poison has been injected into my mind. When I realised the mistake in my post, the Topsetup EG6 was etched into my brain. And I have been pursuing the dream since then.

5 years later today, I am still pursuing a dream. The dream of a Topsetup EG6/CRX

The only difference is.......Im living it too.
