Porker Turbocharged September 10, 2007 Share September 10, 2007 VTEC and SOHC/DOHC are totally unrelated concepts. VTEC = opening more of the valve via lift so the engine can breathe better (sorta like the human nose) SOHC/DOHC = number of cams and valves More valves = Engine breathes better cos more openings VTEC is controlled by the cam design. The different versions of VTEC are common in name only. They are very different engines with very different working principles. Some are brilliant, some are not so fantastic. I'm a noob to VTEC 92vti b16a2 is about the same as the 96sir b16a4, just that the b16a4 got about 10 more bhp. both vtec open once. if u say vtec open twice, should be the b18c (integra dc2) Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

If between both on Honda engine,you might wanna highlight,what type of engine code do you refer too.
