Tiek Neutral Newbie September 7, 2007 Share September 7, 2007 Noticed there are two kinds of warnings on the expressways. There are those which are in rather small lettering under the expressway sign that says "Camera Zone", while there are those big signs the say "Speed Camera Ahead" or something like that. I do notice the big stationary cameras mounted in the center divider after I pass by those big signs, but can't see any around those areas that say "Camera Zone". So what are these camera zones? Do they mean speed camera, or just mean surveillance cams mounted on lampposts to monitor traffic? The other qn is.. which direction is the speed camera mounted at the center divider aiming at? Should I slow down before or after the camera, and at what distance? Tks for helping a noob. ↡ Advertisement

Elfenstar 3rd Gear September 9, 2007 Share September 9, 2007 why slow down? stick to the speed limit on your speedo and you'll be fine.
Sony 1st Gear September 9, 2007 Share September 9, 2007 stick to your travelling speed.. if you intend to speed, then cruise to the perscribed speed before the camera. as to what distance, try it out and tell us, coz I also dunno. we sure need someone to try it out. Ah_tee 2nd Gear September 10, 2007 Share September 10, 2007 i recently saw in the morning few civilians on overhead bridge at my gf place with tripod cameras wads more furthur down the road there is a few more also same i was wondering if they are doing speeding enforcement or just traffic survey cos if speeding enforcement sure die one, cos its immediately after ECP exit, no one will slow down immediately to 50kmh. the location is at marine parade exit off ecp, the overhead bridge beside marine parade library, after i filter left towards parkway there is another one, both have cameras on tripods overlookin traffic any idea guys? Shull Turbocharged September 10, 2007 Share September 10, 2007 if you wanna chiong, lane 4 is the safest..since got 3 lanes between you and the camera..so the chances of vehicles/lorries/bus blocking the camera is higher.. also at night, i dont think the flash is enough to reach lane 4 and be exposed clearly..take note that at speed in excess of 100kmh, you're travelling at abt 27m/s..thus, the slowest shutter speed needed to capture your plate clearly will be about 1/200 sec.. Shull Turbocharged September 11, 2007 Share September 11, 2007 (edited) i dunno whether you believe it or not lah..but the above point is what my 2 friends, both inspectors, 1 in TP and another in SPF tell me one..its up to you to believe or not.. i believe them, since i am a photographer myself, and what they say makes sense to me..but would rather not play with the system..as the saying goes, i not scared of the stationary one..but scared of the living portable one..
