Wreckwrx 1st Gear September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 The ROME mini-series is really like the ancient history version of "Sex, Lies and Videotape"..... I must say it gives a very interesting insight on what actually goes on behind an empire. My fave character in the series is the brutish Titus Pollo. I always remember this line from him, "Wet as October" and he is not referring to the rain. ↡ Advertisement
Wreckwrx 1st Gear September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 Yupz....Yupz.... that was the opening battle scene. Think the horses were spooked because the "artilery shells" were bursting too near to them and Russel Crowe had to steady their nerves..... Super Gung Ho man!! Wreckwrx 1st Gear September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 Speaking of coming attractions, apart from Dambusters, we can also expect: 1. Valkyrie - Starring Tom Cruise as a German Officer that plots to assasinate Hitler 2. Pinkville - Oliver Stone is going direct, and Bruce Willis is going to act in the re-telling of the 1968 My Lai massacre (Vietnam War).

Wreckwrx 1st Gear September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 Oliver Stone is still seeking financing for Pinkville so the movie is not even made yet.... Btw, Pinkville is the military code for region where My Lai is located. As for Valkyrie, it will be interesting to see Tom Cruise playing a Nazi Officer and I wonder if he can pull off the characterization. I saw some actual pic of Col. Stauffenberg vs. Tom Cruise and I must say they look quite alike from the side profile. George Lucas is also getting someone to write the script of "Red Tails". The film is about a group of African-American fighter pilots who had to overcome racism and the color barrier to become the Tuskegee Airmen, the legendary first African-American pilots in U.S. military history. (The planes were distinguished by their red-painted tails, hence the title.)

Ender Hypersonic September 12, 2007 Share September 12, 2007 Casablanca. Saw that show long ago, though it has WW2 as its setting, I don't recall there's any battle scenes with soldiers shooting each other, throwing grenades, the stuff that most war movies have. The Tuskegee Airmen part 1 Year: 1943 Ops/Theater: Airforce/Mediterranean HBO 1995 movie about the Tuskegee Airmen and their fight against both Nazi Germany and prevalent racism of the time. CKP 3rd Gear March 23, 2012 Share March 23, 2012 (edited) "A Bridge Too Far" 1977 war movie, absolutely the best.. Year: 1944 Ops/Theater: Airborne/Holland This one has many big stars like Sean Connery, Gene Hackman, Robert Redford etc. Worth watching and RE-watching. Apparently, Montgomery is over rated.
