Hensony Clutched August 28, 2007 Share August 28, 2007 This Sunday, I was entering the basement carpark at White Sands when I realised that $2 was deducted from my cashcard at the gantry. Thinking that the system was programmed to deduct $2 upon entry, I proceeded to park the car. I got a surprise when I exited from the carpark after an hour later. The system deducted another $2 from my cashcard. I left the carpark, parked somewhere nearby and went back to the control room. The security guard insisted that it was not possible for the system to deduct money from my cashcard. He told me to lodge my complaint with customer service. To substantiate my claim, I printed my cashcard's recent transactions using the top-up terminal. True enough, the slip showed that carpark 97 (I believe this is the ID of White Sands carpark) deducted $2 twice. I have already lodged my complaint and am waiting for a refund. A word of advice to all bros. Check your cashcard value before entering the carpark. ↡ Advertisement
Nus24 Neutral Newbie August 28, 2007 Share August 28, 2007 Maybe after the recent case of people cheating on carpark charges, the carpark97 hire software writer to rewrite the software. Maybe the subroutine "make sure the money is deduct before opening the barrier" was accidently inserted on the incoming function. Thus causing this double charge! Penthousepauper Clutched August 28, 2007 Share August 28, 2007 Wow, I don't usually check the deduction nor the balance in my cash card. But, I know my balance go low very fast these days. Money is deducted without you knowing the balance before the deduction, unless you care to check. More often not, I don't know how much is deducted from my cash card, whether going thru' the gantry point or even if the car park system has a transmission display unit to indicate the amount of car park charges. The IU doesn't show the actual amount of deduction, so that we can verify the amount.
Hensony Clutched August 28, 2007 Author Share August 28, 2007 I guess my experience is a timely reminder to all to be vigilant about our cashcard balances.

Serametin Neutral Newbie August 29, 2007 Share August 29, 2007 any idea, how much does a card reader cost?
Hensony Clutched August 29, 2007 Author Share August 29, 2007 I actually printed the transaction record for free. At first I thought a 20-cent charge would be levied, but to my pleasant surprise, it was free. I also learnt something new that day.

Hensony Clutched August 30, 2007 Author Share August 30, 2007 I hope you are not suggesting that I should not do anything even if I have been fleeced. To a certain extent, I agree with you. $2 is a small amount. But it was wrong of the carpark operator to double-charge me. It is against my principle to ignore such injustice. ↡ Advertisement
