Why the change in oil "numbers"

Help!

I notice that when i send my new car to subaru for the 3 times of free service, they use diff. oil spec.

eg. Mineral 0w-40, then mineral 5w-30 and then syn. 10w-40

while i can understand that usually syn is recommended during the 10k, why is there a change in the oil spec even in the mineral oil?

 

So it there an ideal oil spec for small car?

Hmmm, some bro explain the different oil spec to me, but i forgot haha.

1K servicing.. 40 to protect engine as it runs in.

 

5K servicing.. also mineral but less viscous, still running in.

 

10K servicing.. aiya chinchye got synthetic ok liaoz..

I have never heard of any 0w40 mineral oil. It's normally 20w50 mineral that most AD use to run-in, no other reason except it's the cheapest mineral they can buy in drum.

never heard of 0w minerals. minerals never can get 0w... 0w is an 'unnatural' number which only attainable by syn blends.

I don't agree with that statement bro. Typically ADs here always take the first opportunity to charge you Syn oil rates for the first 3 servicing. I had to argue with the AD just to get them put in mineral ones for the first 2 servicing.

Oh sorry, i mean first 3 free servicing. Ask those Nissan Sunny owner who gets 2yr free servicing what they get for oil and they will tell you it's 20w50 mineral or something. Now you know why Sunny get so bad FC...

nissan using fastflo brand of oil. doubt its really good as many ppl complain about the poor FC.
