Negative Pressure Supercharging

Recommended Posts

pV=nRT

vol[air]= rpm x displacement(valve)

i guess the volume would be pretty constant here, the variable would be how hard you rev.

For this 'negative supercharging', if pressure goes down and volume stays constant/goes up.. the rate of reaction would still be lower/the same.

Wherelse in a super/turbocharger, pressure goes up; rate of reaction would be higher whether or not the volume stays constant/increases.

[confused]

thanks it's something new to me.

actually the principle is the same as TC / SC just that it 'sucks' instead of 'push' like the TC / SC.

basically, the amount of air that can flow into the combustion camber depends on the driving force to flow them (aka the pressure difference between outside and inside the camber). so in order to flow more air, u either increase the outside pressure or decrease the pressure inside the combustion camber. TC / SC is the former while this negative pressure thingy is the latter. by reducing the combustion camber pressure, u can suck in more air compared to normal pressure in the camber.

the 2nd link u gave only explained the normal SC, and is different from the 1st one unless i read the wrong link / paragraph [sweatdrop]

but rate of reaction is dependent on pressure. if the pressure is low, even if there is high volume, the reaction will at most be at normal rate. i think so?

yes. in order to solve that, they have put in a lot of efforts to introduce hot air intake (as oppose to our normal CAI) in order to bring the mixture to its flash point to encourage ignition, and at the same time maintain an optimum combustion temperature at that pressure with some cooling water to prevent premature ignition. i suspect the car is going to knock like crazy or suffer incomplete combustion if the temperature regulator doesn't do its job properly [sweatdrop][sweatdrop][sweatdrop]
