[nod] especially when per litre price is going up and up. Esso is using $1.25 per point, unlike shell where it is using 1 lit per point.

-------------------------------------------------------

For those using more than 200 litres pm, Shell bonus rewards translate to $1.07 per point.

citibank +3%

dividend +5% rebate

exceed $250 / mth + bonus esso points.

--------------------------------------

Dont understand the part on dividend +5% rebate. For $250, how much bonus points?

If I were to join U-drive (16% off), would it be better as I member of NTUC?(

Esso just need to charge $250, which is much lower than 200l to get additional 25% bonus point.

-----------------------

Getting more confusing. Altho Shell need 200 litres, it gives 50% bonus points. Think it is easier to under if we translate 1 reward point = ??? $$$$ assuming 350 pt = $10 free petrol.

just using a citibank visa/mc card +3%

if you using a citibank dividend MC card, means you get +5% rebate on top of the +3%

if you each month spend >$250 (not liters), you get bonus. I like this portion because when price of petrol goes up means i faster get bonus. [;)]

bonus is 25% of the points earned for the month i think.

So effectively is better for those burning a lot of petrol.

I'm not sure about other schemes as I'm using caltex on a affiliated card that got me better deal than esso. [lipsrsealed]

I think you only get 5% rebate after station discount but not the 3% which is applicable to another citi card.

Just like UOB visa, I get 3% after station discount, but if I used UOB One, I get 5% after station discount.

ok, let's do some calculation smile.gif

take RON95 price at $1.886 / l and assuming you pump 200lit per month

200l = 200x$1.886 = $377.2

Please correct if I'm wrong on shell reward scheme.

For shell, you get 200 pt + 100pt (50% bonus) = 300 pts

For esso, you get 301pts (377.2/1.25) + 90pts (30% bonus) = 391 pts

So, if shell reward scheme is correct, looks like Esso is better.

and Esso is 750 pts for $30 petrol voucher, not sure about Shell.

Let me understand you.

200l = 200X$1.79 (after station discount) = $358 = 286.4 pts ($358/$1.25) + 71 (25% bonus) = 357 pts. I am sure the pts are based on net price, not posted price. In this case, Shell gives 300 pts. So if that is the case I agree Esso [thumbsup] but I no Citi Dividend card.

For your info, Shell 700 pts = $20 petrol voucher only.

BTW, my mistake on the earlier post, Esso bonus is 30% instead of 25%. Esso just need to apply the DBS ESSO MC to get additional direct 5% on top of station discount. Furthermore, this DBS Esso MC also earn credit card reward point for bank freebies redemption.

SPC got free rice for every $300 - heheh

currently i have 8% discount at SPC (pump $500 last month [sweatdrop] ) plus further 5% rebate by POSB Card - but no points for POSB Card.

is there any other pump that can better this?

ok i translate for you.

Esso $1.25 get 1 point

Get 30% more points if spend $250 and above (some say 25% but Esso website says 30% here: http://www.exxonmobil.com/AP-English/Impor...wardsGuide.pdf).

So that translates to: $1.25 get 1.3 points, or $1.04 per point. better than Shell's $1.07 per point that you calculated above.

the discount not too bad. but i dont like the tiered system SPC has, which meant you lose out discounts for the first month the moment you switch to SPC, the ROI may come in later than expected if you did not manage to get the 8%.
