Sillymonkey August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 maybe this is indeed pedal shift. use ka step on pedal to change gear.

Turbine Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 What is your opinion that the compression ratio is 9:1 2L TC-ed?
Falc 3rd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Wah they really want to push for the SST. GSR manual also only 5MT.
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Usually, only high revving NA engines are high compression, e.g. 11.5:1 for K20A. It is normal for TC engines to have lower compression ratios.
Turbine Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 But why ppl regard WRX 8.4 as high? So make me wonder how come evo 9:1, is it purely becos block strength?
Vblaster_w211 2nd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Depends on engine block design, rev limit and boost limit.
Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Should i have an opinion A lot of the K20A+T RSX's (a.k.a. teggy) run similar comp ratios, relatively high boost and are going strong. With a strong block and internals it should be fine. Even on full boost this is nothing compared to the compression figures diesels put out. Unfortunately i know nothing abt this new engine so i can't comment, but i wouldn't be surprised if it had titanium sleeves and titanium coated forged pistons. Elfenstar 3rd Gear August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 8.4:1 isnt that high. most TC jap cars since the 1990ish period have been running on similar compression ratios.
Turbine Neutral Newbie August 16, 2007 Share August 16, 2007 Thanks. I was very curious with all the compression ratio and block strengthen stuffs.

Guyver 1st Gear August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 Is that DSG?
Falc 3rd Gear August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 Similar to DSG, but developed separately. http://paultan.org/archives/2007/07/10/mit...ch-sst-gearbox/
Weihui Clutched August 17, 2007 Share August 17, 2007 Similar concept but Mitsubishi can't call it DSG. SST = Super Sport Transmission. The correct terminology for this type of gear is called AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) instead of AT since clutch is being used instead of torque convertor. ↡ Advertisement
