Guys and Gals.... My job requires me to drive up to KL and back frequently... For those who usually go up there for the same purpose as me, care to share some tips on staying awake...?? The long, straight roads are boring, and tiring... Especially after a hearty meal....

if u know that u are going to embark on a long journey, always have ample rest before doing so. a power nap of say 15-30mins does help a lot. nv nv take such risk. rather reach 30mins later than not reaching at all ya!

3 things that keep me awake during long distant drive [;)]

1. wet towel hanging over the neck [thumbsup]

2. junk food (or fruit if you are health freak) [rolleyes]

3. a sharp object that you can stab on your tight whenever you felt asleep

hearty meal? that's the worst.. all the blood goes to your digestive system and the blood sugar shoots up, making you sleepy.

have a light meal.

turn the radio or music that keeps you awake while you drive.

don't drive straight on 1 lane, try to stay on the left and overtake, this will keep your brain alert.

have a rest of 10-15 mins for every 3 hours of driving.

that's it

1)take a break, wash face with water, sprinkle water on arms n legs, body to freshen up.

2)For me I speed up to remain awake as the faster I go, the more alert I am.

but do be careful of this tip 2, as once u cross the threshold into sleep, u woud be moving at high speed sleeping.

3)Stop the car at a safe place to take a short nap in driver seat, remember to lock ur car.

4)drink tea or coffee, or smoke a ciggie whichever keeps u awake

5)pick up a hitch hiking girl

1. Have ample sleep and rest the day before the trip;

2. No alcohol the day b4 even though you feel that you will be able to clear the alcohol the next day;

3. Plan for pit-stops along the way for a short walk or toilet break or nap;

4. Drink enough water - your body will not get tired easily and your bladder will keep you awake [laugh];

5. Drive with a pair of sun glassess so that the glare will not tire your eyes;

6. Have some wet towel ready;

7. Wind down window or turn off the the aircon re-circulation mode so that fresh air can come in.

I saw a documentary of a study on this. They found speaking along with foreign langauge lesson CDs the most helpful to keep one awake. Learn a foreign langauge and drive safely. [laugh]

Power down your window for fresh air to come in while on highway will help you stay awake.....beside good air for your lung , the sharp and ear piercing windnoise will definitely keep you awake [laugh]
