Aug 9, 2007 Son saved man's life but lost belongings

AT 2 AM on Sunday, my son dived into the Singapore River to rescue a drowning man. Before doing so, he removed his shirt, wallet, shoes, spectacles and mobile phone. After rescuing the man, who almost dragged him down, he found all his belongings missing.

The man he rescued gave him $50 but he had no shirt and was dripping wet. An ambulance took the man to hospital but no taxi driver would take my son home.

I am just a cleaner and I am very sad that my son lost things he could ill afford to lose while saving another's life.

I was having lunch once at a hawker centre. Eating halfway, the table beside me, a guy in green uniform ran to the carpark. Leaving his half eaten food n bag behind. Apparently a parking auntie came n he had parked illegally.

I helped look after his belongings n food when the cleaning auntie came along. [laugh] If not, I tink he come back, everything gone liao.
