Does your mechanic issue proper receipt?

Do you insist that your mechanic must issue you official receipts after each repair?

 

Among the few ws I visited, only Lee Sheng and CAS issue proper receipts for each service/repair.

 

Do you dare to visit ws which doesn't issue proper receipts?

Depend which workshop. The more established ones will, the one man show type usually don't.

I recently went through a major revamp on my COE car recently.

A lot of new parts installed, but the mechanic didn't give proper receipt.

 

If I decide to sell the car away, I have no receipts to prove to the buyer.

They don't issue receipts so that they can under-declare their earnings to the govt resulting in less tax. Common SME practice in many places, but i would advise anyone to make sure they get a receipt even if its a lil more unless you know and have absolute trust in your mech.

But the consumer's rights are not protected.

 

Sometimes, I prefer to go to CAS. If something goes wrong, I can always go back to bang their tables with the receipt.

Just ask the mech to issue one to you....tell him your reasons and that he doesn't need to give you the 'oficial' one. Just one with his workshop letter head.

heheh i edited my statement to include more. you're right. thats one of the reasons i edited my initial statement.

 

Another place that always gives receipts is espace. i know the people there and even when i pay them and run off when i'm in a hurry, they'll still write a receipt and give it to me the next time i pop by.

No place to keep them though.

well assuming that a workshop makes 200 in profit a day... i'm sure they would be saving roughly abt 7-10k a year in taxes.

I do keep all the receipts n ask for one from my mechanic.

some of those workshop which I visit, does not issue receipt. But if I have any issue with the replacement parts within a short period, I have no issue getting them to rectify for free.
