The current skoda superb's body is based upon the older generation of the VW Passat which has 4-star ratings and not the current passat which has 5-star NCAP ratings.

Many pple are mislead to believe that the current skoda superb must be 5-star because its a huge conti car based on the current VW passat [laugh] (which in fact, is based on a 10-year old passat design [thumbsdown] )

Look at what the Euroncap website says about the current skoda superb.

The Superb is based on VW

What a way to go ! Straight into a brick wall at 110 kmph ! How safe is safe when continental cars are concerned ? Guess no cars are designed to crash into a brick wall in excess of 100 kmph ! sweatdrop.gif

Why would someone carjack a taxi??

Anyway, i think any car crush at 110km/h would turn out like this.

Now apparently even the cheapo kia rio can and most of the 1.6L jap sedans can match the skoda superb in terms of body rigidity & occupant protection in a frontal impact...so much for the reputation of skoda making safe cars [rolleyes]

Agree with most of the comment here. No driver in any road car can survive such a crash at such high speed and a concrete wall(assuming it was travelling in excess of 100km/h, cos the taxi behind was travelling at that speed and still lose sight of the skoda).

My god!!

The crash is so serious only at 110KM/h.

ONLY?!!! sweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gif

think maybe an Armoured Tank can survive tat speed ba..... if those metal can reached tat speed in the 1st placelaugh.gifI don't think so, even if it can travel in excess of 110km/h...cos the armoured body will send the shock into the cabin...cos I doubt it will have crumble zone at all.

Safety in most cars are good but they cannot match the infinite ability of human stupidity.

As long as you are not crazy, of sound sober mind, most cars are safe enough, Conti or not.

ONLY 110km/h? Yes, many ppl like to assoc 110km/h being slow like in North-South Highway but to crash at that speed into a stationary object could be even fatal at speed of 60km/h. Try walking into a walk not slowing down our walking speed and you can feel the pain..of cos not asking you to try it out thou.

Neutral Newbie

the paper indicated that the robbers might have mental illness history and before the crash it show no sign of braking, this is likely a case of commit suicide. if the driver is mentally unsound - it does not matter ncap rating anymore because manufacturer designed car for normal human being and trust that we can make good judgement. so the question of conti or not conti is not relevant. angmoh or jippun or kimchi or china man are all human born equal - hahahah

considering he didn't brake, the cars quite safe already looking at the damage. i thought the more impt question to ask is-

HOW FAST ARE TURBODIESEL CARS?

TDi Engines were made for power and low end torque. It was never meant to make the vehicle go any much faster. The turbo spools to create power for uphill roads, thats why TDi vehicles mostly came with smooth gear ratio, not close ratio. But Taxi fellas always think now got "turbo" can go jio WRX, EVO & RX8, sighz, the taxi companies must educate their drivers more.
