I was just shocked he can crash a conti till that state.

Not being rude but I dun think there is a need to repeat what others had said.

You are absoultely right, no car is designed for an direct accident impact beyond 120 kmh. NCAP expect the drivers to attempt to slow the car between 60 -100kmh before impact.

Understand that in this case, there was no braking marks and the car can easily hit 160 kmh easily.

strength is relative...but understand that the Japanese and continental (traditional ones) have different concept in building cars. The Japanese build their cars using the egg box kind of concept, using the body to strengthen the chassis and the continental ones use a centre girder to strengthen the box...hence, in heavier impact, the continental ones supposedly can take better collision/direct impact. oh....this way of design makes the car heavier too..

Hope this serves as an Important Lesson to those speeding Taxis who has this illusion that TDi engines are for Racing.

i think most of u pple forgot that the guy who jacked the cab was (literally) nuts and didn't brake before ploughing into that wall at abt 100kmh

even if u take a drunk driver who's speeding, he will at least slow to 70 or less. though i think not much use if u crash into the solid concrete wall.

crashing into car, at least the victim have the benefit of two sets of crumple zones.. concrete wall, the car's crumple zone simply isn't enuff [shakehead]

Many Japanese cars are starting to get 5 star NCAP ratings too.

The safest car in the euroncap test is the Nissan Qashqai. However, continental cars are still safer and more solid for now.

You are absolutely right....it is a matter of time that everyone will learn...however, my point and view is that we need to stretch our dollar, hence my comment.
