Not all CC increase thier fees. My 3+ year's daughter's NTUC childcare still $360/-. Bor increase. [thumbsup]

But my SIL's kid is in Montessori school. Increase from a whopping $650/- to $690/- [dizzy]. Worst still, the school are mostly english speaking teachers....so her 3+ year old kid cant even speak a word of mandarin now. [hur] [hur] [hur]

Anyway, i have oredi withdraw my kid from childcare and put her under the same nanny that is caring my 5 mth old son now. Total gona pay her $900/- for caring 2 kids(day time only). Childcare might be good & cheap, but my gal gets sick far too often and its disrupting my work too bcos often i have to take urgent leave.

Oredi register my gal for next year PAP kintergarden($185) for schooling 1-5pm which is conveniently located just under nanny's block, 5 mins walk from my house. [nod][nod][nod]

There is no basis to say that a 2% increase in GST will only result in a 2% increase in final price.

For every product, there are multiple layers of distribution, ie, importer, distributor, retailer, etc. Each layer adds on 2%.

The final product price, depending on the number of layers, will be an amplified result of the 2%. Furthermore, each layer wld expect to maintain its margins. If costs increase 2%, and to ensure similar margins as the past, means the final product must be priced higher than 2%

Agree. A lot of people think it's no big deal for a 2% increased...but they didn't realised that the increase will be multiplied down the chain of supply. Even those that are not GST registered will have to increase their prices cos of that.

I wrote to MCYS to complain abt the increase. The childcare centre cited due to global inflation, they "lan lan" have to increase.

See below for the letter I complain to MCYS and their reply. Really shxt.

Dear Sirs,

We were very happy when our Prime Minister Mr. Lee revealed that the Government is going to further extend the child care subsidy from $150 to $300.

With the new subsidy, effectively we would be paying $300 ($600 - $300) for our child, since my wife is also a working parent.

However, to our dismay, the childcare centre which our child is attending, Axxpe Child Care (SK) Pte Ltd (

I saw this coming when Gov announced they are gonna increase the childcare subsidy to so that childcare centre can employ higher qualified teachers..

They can brat about the 100% increase , but ultimately, parents are only concern with the actual amount paid. 100% more is only $150, but most childcare will up their fees by more than this fihure over the next few months citing various reasons. [thumbsdown]

Higher Qualified Teachers ?? My feet ... all from PRCs. The max the childcare paid to these PRC teachers are between $1200 to $1600.

Dont agree with you on your last sentence. Parents would like to pay as low as possible, if the new subsidy kicks in. Would be happier if, previously you paid $450, and now only $300 with new subsidy.
