Feeling my brakes a soft nowadays. I wonder where I can change the brake pads? Do normal workshops change brake pads also?

Last of all, how much to change the pads? Front are disk brakes and rear are drum brakes.

Thanks!!! [flowerface]

hi Magiclamp,

1st of all, what is ur ride, and which year's model?

secondly, there are many brands of brake pads in the market, from original, aftermarket replacement, performance, to the not-so-originals. a set of new pads can cost anything from $60 to a few hundred dollars, depending on what brand and which workshop you go to.

if you go back to agent, it may cost more than workshops outside, as agent prices are normally higher even for changing the same parts.

my suggestion is go to a reputable workshop, and ask for a reputable brand of brake pad, as brake pads, together with tyres play an important part in daily driving safety.

fyi, continental brands like Mintex, Bendix and Ferodo will generate more brake dust, but generally the braking power is slightly better than most stock pads for asian vehicles.

cheers

Try Project U(read as mui) at stamford tyres. Better than stock but will cost you ard 100++ for disk type. Drum, not sure but shld cost lesser. Btw, the brake dust is really minimum & braking is thumbsup.gifthumbsup.gif.

actually not true. they are 2 pcs of c shape light pads(if i were to call it) in each drum that need to replace over time also. it does not wear off as fast as the disk type. but do cx it also. And 1 more thing, if u can, get ur mech to remove the brake dust trapped inside the drum brake once in a long while. my 2cts thots. cheers

I have a set of project mu brake pads. Haven't changed yet. I am using stock pads now. Still left 40%...Dunno change now or wait for stock pads to be used up first.....
