Japan PS3 DVD region codes

I wanna find out if any of u guys using japan import PS3 sets. Check online there is a new update for PS3 which will allow Japan and USA PS3 to share region codes. That shd means that region code 1 and 2 can be played on my Japan import PS3 eh? I was so happy and went to update my PS3. Immediately after tat, I went out to buy a dvd of region code 1, (Rocky Balboa). Went home happily to try it but it Failed to play. Incorrect region code format DVD. Anybody with the japan set facing similar problems eh??

 

Another thing to note, Y is it that region code 1 dvds have more stuffs than our local region code 3. The counter gal told me that Code 1 more ex as they got alot of additional "liao" like special interviews, uncensored xxx scenes and better video display output format. Y so unfair one?? Only thingy i not complaining is becos Code 3 Dvds are much cheaper.

For PS3, besides the Bluray region that we are similar to both US and Japan, the DVD is region locked.

 

Does Code 1 DVD have better "quality" compared with Code 3? But seriously, its only skin deep.

 

The reason for Codes is the language usually. Code 3 has south east asia language or subtitles included. Whereas Code 1 doesn't.

 

Regarding those uncensored crap is... crap.

Why is Code 1 more ex, because, they are imported from US. Not only that, they have to go thru our stringent censorship board, which the importer has to borne the cost as well. That is why code 3 are more cheaper because they are released specifically for our region.

 

BUT, if you go shopping around and do find Code 6 DVD, they are even cheaper then your Code 3s. Code 6 is released for China. Does it then means that, code 6 has worse quality then code 3?? Not for what i saw.. hahaha

Ohhh. So the uncensored part is practically jus crap part trying to fool us comsumer. Gee. I got conned by the counter gal. Damn.

 

But then the region code part for the PS3 supposed to be able to play Code 1 & 3 but i dunno y even though i updated mine liao but still not able to do so.

Haha.. must be a pretty gal. Anyway, ask yourself, is there "uncensored" version here in sg anyway.. haha.

 

For the part on region code lock for DVDs, I'm sure its not unlocked, otherwise, Sony will shoot themselves in the leg.

hee. no lah. Not a pretty ger ley. If not i wun be buying jus one disc eh. Was too gan chiong to test the region code thingy so jus grab one home to try it. How would i noe the codes werent shared?
