Your bill really got problem. My home on TV on PC almost 12 hrs a day. Bill around $100 to $110.

I guessed you might have to check which appliance is the culprit. The usual suspects are Fridge, Air-Con, Water Heater, Heater flask, kettle, iron etc...

yeah bro, i think something up. Better check. My housemate and me, he at home everyday, got server in room. Fan on whole day whole night, when i come back, air con on, tv almost on everyday. washing machine every 2 weeks once.

Shower 2 pax, day & night, sometimes once a day (smelly).

MCFers,

How much is your monthly utilities bill?

I m so furious of my monthly bill. Its always $130-$150. Executive apartment. I feel being overcharged .

Called up Singapore Power, they sent man to check and claimed nothing was wrong with the meter device. Meaningless [thumbsdown]

My reasoning with them are:-

-Monday to Thurs, reach home at 10 pm daily and on the tv for only 3-4 hours at nite, fan on thru the nite while sleeping. Next morning switched off every point , nothing is on standby mode except the refrigerator and the aquarium (2 feet) filter.

-Friday evening fetch my kids back from in law , use only fan, tv and all other necessary utilities.

-Saturday and Sunday as per normal; tv, lights, water boiler, cook ( gas)

A check with some of my frens, their average bill $80-$100 and the best thing is they on aircon, on tv, on laptop and parents at home meaning they cook and watch tv most of the time. 5 room, and Executive Apt too.

Why the big difference? Does SP charge according to the type of house you stay?

Comment? anyone?

I thk it's becos of ur aquarium & the refrigerator cos these 2 items costs more.

2 possible reasons:

1) there could be a current leakage somewhere in your house. give your electrician a call.

2) your fridge don't have the 4 ticks (energy efficient logo).

Typically, storage water heater consumes more electricity.

A conventional storage water heater is one of the largest energy users in homes and businesses, accounting for approximately 25 - 35% of the electricity consumed. Part of the reason for this is because a storage heater continually heats water whether or not it is actually being used.

Storage heaters require you to heat the stored water to an exceptionally high temperature in order to provide an adequate supply of hot water. This temperature is typically far higher than what would be comfortable or safe for showering or other household uses. You must first pay to heat this water only to cool it again by adding cold water to make it comfortable for use. In other words, you are paying for electricity which heats the water to a much higher temperature than you will ever actually use. Furthermore, you must pay to keep the water in the tank hot all day, not just for the few minutes of each day that it is actually needed. This results in a substantial amount of wasted energy - and wasted money too!

My PUB bills have also been on the rise. In the past, only $80 to $100/mth. Nowadays, it is $120 to $150/mth. [smallcry]

Other than a clothes dryer, i've got nothing new in the house that drains power.

Not if you switched it off after use. Switch on for 10 min before bathing, and switch it off after everyone has bathed. The water in the storage will still be hot the next day.
