Meecar Clutched July 26, 2007 Share July 26, 2007 While browsing through the search looking for an answer to a motoring question, I was very surprise to see there are many advice or information provided that are either slightly off or grossly wrong. Fortunately, I have been driving long enough to realized some of the information are incorrect. I feel we should check before we post critcal information. other members especially those with their 1st car may get lots of craps in their car without knowing it. ↡ Advertisement
Liping24 Neutral Newbie July 26, 2007 Share July 26, 2007 Yes, you are right. Always be alert and compare notes. Best is to do what one feels right and not what other says is right, within own's reasonable judgement of course lah, cannot blindly follow mah! Different people diffrent strokes. Actually some advices are given that suit the giver perfectly, but will be a problem for others. Like 18-20" rims. Some will say the rough ride is 'acceptable. But someone will regret changing it because the ride is too 'bumpy'. The truth is always out there.
Yc86 Clutched July 26, 2007 Share July 26, 2007 Any examples to share? Yes this is a forum where people express their opinions.. so naturally opinions may be biased or affected by experiences. Unless they are looking for a fact or trying to find out how something works, then its another thing. They are just lazy to search around the internet
Gearoil 1st Gear July 26, 2007 Share July 26, 2007 18-20' rims?...what has that got to do with the ride 'getting bumpy'?. ....or rather what has the size of the rims got to do with the bumpyness ( if there is such a word )of the ride? I know size does matter to some ppl but the rolling diameter of the rims will surely change some 'handling aspect of the car' and probably your fuel bills too!..I guess.. but bumpy ride? Hmm..HOW much truth is there here?
Rickster 5th Gear July 26, 2007 Share July 26, 2007 Guess you haven't been around the world of internet long enuf to relise this. Information is everywhere. But how you filter out is another question altogether. Try asking different car mechanics for their opinion with regards to a problem with you car. I'm sure u'll get many different and interesting ideas from them

Hmm..HOW much truth is there here? As you have pointed out, as the rim size grew, the overall diameter has to stay close to the original size, so, the tires profile has to decrease, thin tires profile = bumpy ride. This is of course assuming suspension stays the same.
