Zcold 2nd Gear July 24, 2007 Share July 24, 2007 (edited) IMO.. the ABS is a must have for cars today.. imagine on a wet day, or even dry, the car in front suddenly jam brake or even someone dash across the road... u confirm ZHAM brake hard hard... without ABS, yr wheels will lock up and the friction will be reduced greatly = much greater stopping distance = gg + + accident. in another words, the friction between the road n yr wheel becomes kinetic friction instead of static friction, which is significantly lesser. with ABS, the wheels will not lock up.. instead, the moment yr wheels lock up, the car will "release" brakes automatically for milliseconds hence keeping the friction between the road surface n wheels as static friction... even thou yr legs floor the brake pedal unless u are able to drive like takumi... ABS = shorter braking distance!! btw i seen this chart somewhere before on the braking distance with and w/o ABS... man... the difference is HUGE... onli pro racing drivers can get a shorter stopping distance on a car w/o ABS compared to one with ABS.... Safety First!! dun tok abt how hard yr car is how many air bags... can stop properly is way more impt~!!!! Edited July 24, 2007 by Zcold
Rickster 5th Gear July 24, 2007 Share July 24, 2007 ABS will greatly reduce braking distance during wet conditions. However, on dry and snow-covered road conditions, ABS will actually increase the stopping distance.

Hiphiphoray 6th Gear July 24, 2007 Share July 24, 2007 Quote I had the impression that lancer is one of the most powerful 1.6L jap cars out there with a rating of 10+ sec for century sprint. Wonder y u mentioned that ur low-end torque is not good. Maybe its the Auto that is slow bah. Manual will be faster.

Aiya, if you drive within speed limit on all s'pore roads, even people suddenly run across also got time to react. The problem is people tailgate too closely, remember, it's not just tailgate, it's tailgating too closely.
Jl1500k Clutched July 25, 2007 Share July 25, 2007 choose the colour you like and not because of red plate and choose red colour. One day you may convert back to normal car.

Florinelee Neutral Newbie July 28, 2007 Author Share July 28, 2007 lol thanks bros for the advice. i went to the showroom and test drive today. but i bought the 1.4a in the end cos the SE dun really recommend 1.6a as it will be harder to sell in the 2nd hand mkt in the future as ppl buying 1.6 cars most probably go for cars like Altis or Avante.. and after test driving it 1.4a is sufficient IMO. insurance is cheaper too. he gave me foglights, reverse sensors and floor mat (non 3M type) as freebies and i paid for the luxury pkg ( with leather seats, rims,uv film, visor, silver panelling) for $1200.. yup and i got the hiphop red ↡ Advertisement
