actually SOHC engine has better FC than DOHC and easier to maintain. The lancer has good FC figures. my colleague used to drive the 1.6L auto and gets abt 13km/l

Generally DOHC engine is more powerful

.

Air con, PFL using manual A/C, FL using Auto/Digital A/C.

Not all FL with auto aircon. LX version (and I think XLi) still manual.

Also, FL rear number plate is usually the long type.

(edited)

1.5l uses electric power steering which has zero feel and is over light while 1.6l uses conventional hydraulic power steering which has better rd feel but some claim it saps power from the engine.

If you remmeber, when the pre FL G9 Corolla was launched in Oct 2000, tehre were lots of accidents involving the 1.5l model, of which there were claims that the electric power steering was overly light and way too sensitive. A sudden turn on the steering can swerve the car to one side.

I still prefer my ex 1993 Opel Astra 1.6 which came with semi power steering. Excellent feel of the rd and just righth, not too light and overly assisted.

OIC thanks

Just don't understand y the japanese purposely put a eye lid coz it is extra effort to fabricate it.

Unless the headlights were used in other models and they try to fit it in to the "then" new design.

I dun quite agree that the cause was because of the EPS.

Many cars are equipped with EPS, but how come only G9 1.5L?

Shld be driver's fault la.

The 1.5l Corolla which is just a few horses short of its 1.6l sibling, was the popular choice amongst many as it cost S$10K less.

It came in stock skinny 175/70R14 tyres with pronounced body roll.

Agreed. driver's error are the main causes of accidents and not the car

A bit OT.

I feel that driving with EPS when doing u turn doing a full lock I often encounter a hard "knock" don't know if it is not used to it or not coz must keep in mind how many turns and turn softly when reaching the end

Do be wary if anyone intends to purchase a 2nd hand G9 Corolla, which is notorious for its warping external rubber seals around the 4 windows, discoloured headlamps and huge gaps between its panels. Seems shortchanged on QC aspects.

actually quite a few of cars that came out together or before the G9 have discoloured headlamps. Nissan Sunny too... the PFL N16.

Definitely driver's fault. EPS is nt a prob for me.

One shld adapt to the car's characteristics rather den the car adapt to the driver's.

ever notice quite a significant number of pre G9 of more that 5 years old on the road (SDG, SDH...SDS plate), & also the yr 2000 Sunny. all other marque at this age already CMI, extinct, scrap or exported out.

What'z is it that we didn't know??? [scholar]
