Hi... normally how long before we need to change our engine mounting?

or how do we know if the mounting need to be changed?

Coz so far two diff workshops has recommend me to change my engine mounting,

but went back to BM, they said that nothing wrong with it and recommand that the mounting

shld last around 6-7yrs??

Help pls becoz not cheap to change one. [sweatdrop]

my car is 3 yrs old. Thanks alot! [:)]

excessive vibration during idling is a good indication that engine mounts are WEAK.

 

Toyota original engine mounts design to last at least 150,000km or more under normal driving condition. I changed mine at 195,000km

If your car is an auto try checking the mounting by getting a helper to listen for knocking sound when you shift into Drive or Reverse (with parking and foot brake on!)

 

Usually the engine shifts slightly forward or backward when gear is engaged, if the mountings are shot then you'd hear the knocking sound quite obviously.

don't think there's a need to change the mounting as your car is only 3yrs old.

 

Unless you've have been in an accident involving the front part of the car, or like my previous car, launch up about 1meter into the air & 'slam dung' back onto the road sweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gifsweatdrop.gif
